OK...I really want to get reacquainted with you all. It's been a
while, and I realize I don't know anything about anyone any more. (I
know about Linda, but I get to see her once in a while...in real
life!)

So, who's moved? gotten married? divorced? had babies or grandbabies?
graduated? gone back to school? new job? retired? traveled some
place wonderful?

Or learned a new beady technique? made somethig spectacular? or made
something not so spectacular?

Talk to me, and I promise I'll talk back.

Hi Laurie,

When there was that big deal made about off topic posts a few years ago I
think we lost a whole lot of the heart of this group. A news group is as
much about the people in it, as it is about the topic we discuss.

We lost many of the people who were the friendliest at that time. Or had
the strongest personalities. And we are much poorer for it.

We're really so far behind with each other, re-introductions might be
useful, along with the catching up. So I think I'll start a re-introduction
thread too.

The big news of what I've done recently is my trip to Mexico, meeting my
future son in law, seeing Sooz again, and seeing my granddaughter, which is
in other posts.

My big up coming news is my daughter's wedding in Sedona in Sept.

Spring is in full swing Alaska-style. Which is to say, there's looks of
light to see all there is to do, and the snow is melting though we're
getting flurries today.

I too miss hearing about everyone. So what's up with everyone else?

Tina

Hi there, I have never gone away, pop in most mornings and mean to reply
more often but life always gets busy.
This year our small town is celebrating being around a 100 years so we
are all involved in helping out. We have just had a four day floral
festival with my sisters in law and MIL doing stands, Bette's was the
dairy company and milk carts and cans, Cass had music over the century
complete with harps, jute boxes and Mum was involved with wedding dress
displayed for every decade.

I was one of three invited to have a stall, run by family as I was at
work so took over after work.I did very well. Lots of lavender
products, bead work and felted flower brooches were sold.

My husband sold the centennial book of which he is a co author.

This weekend is the ball. I have to alter a long skirt then will be
ready to go. A friend is lending me her long gloves. Also on Sat is a
staff lamb spit roast.

I have a pile of beading mags to read when life settles. We are going
into autumn here so looking out the window, I see cows in the paddock
rain clods gathering, a rubbish fir burning and almost green grass. We
have had a drought begin to break. One house is in view, one tractor and
one car.

All is quiet. I will drive into town, 5 mins drive away to post mail and
cook dinner. Enchiladas tonight.

I live in New Zealand on a farm and try all sorts of beading out. My
ambition is to be at bead and button next year.

Cheers, Jan

New Zealand? Ah.....I wanna go! I'm sure you folks are tired of
hearing it, but my dad in WWII and my grandad in WWI spent time in New
Zealand....and both of them thought it was wild and wonderful country
with a grand population. And steak.....my dad often talked about the
steak....

Your celebration sounds like fun! A fancy dress ball....so much fun!

Take picutres.....

I Am glad that folks want Up date I am one of the Loudest on
here as some of you know Grin! I had for almost 2 years owned a
Small Art Gallery which didn't make it ( i was gone from here most of
that time!) It is hard in the world for art! My Mom is a oil Painter
and it was her Art that graced the walls ! I make Jewelry ( my own
polymer beads, beaded beads etc) and other hand crafted works ! I
found this group a long time ago when I was mostly into polymer Clay
and I used to love to join up with folks to do swaps and Beads For No
Reason! Ive tried to get some swaps going but only one went and only 3
of us got into it I was very sad about it! last one I mention didn't
get a response ! I feel like i want to breath life back into this
group but its not one person who does that!
Ive brought Many beads here from Artists here
and have my own collection, that i always plan to make into Jewelry
but some havent found the right Piece smile didnt know i was a
collector till i found i had a 2 full boxes just of artist beads
mostly from you ladies here! I love to catch you before you are Known
when you are still in my price range when I can buy and make you feel
good selling your early works! I like supporting Artists My Mom
included! I have recently designed a Brochure for my Moms Art she is
73 and making some of the most wonderful paintings in her life ! Now
that the brochure is done i going to start sending them to all the
texas Galleries to start with hoping to get more shows for her! I do
like to see the Art beads many make here and some of the wonderful
Jewelry ! I still make some myself but I going in more then one
direction do Photos and other things so I too am busy but I love a
challenge so i was hoping some one would want to do a swap or other
challenge in beads or Jewelry on here or if they heard of one let us
know!
Personally Ive had up and downs in my Marriage but finally
we gotten back on track and paying off the bills from me wanting a
escape from my husband LOL
I was in severe depression before the Gallery and that darkness isn't
something I want to share to many tears (yes it was husband
related) ! I have always prided my self on being a helpful soul so if
you ever need a shoulder feel free to email me!
I tried selling on ebay what a mess lol they still owe me
money I think its to much a big boys store now a days ! I have open an
Etsy store happy there so far I open a 2nd store for moms Art

exposure! We are selling prints post cards and stationary there to
cover the bills too and I will be opening a supply store to mostly
sell off my excess Yep I am a pack rat hoarder! No my collection isnt
going up to be sold!
My son is 24 and on his own working and happy and my
kitties are my babies now! Though I have 8 step grand children they
are mostly getting to big and busy for me to baby so the cats and moms
dogs get that!

Jan, your centennial sounds wonderful. So has your family been in this town
for many generations?

My grandmother was born in Denmark in 1864 and was "a professional woman"
because she went to school to make butter (one of Denmark's exports). Was
Bette's Dairy in your family? A four day floral festival sounds heavenly to
this Alaskan, and those musical instruments sound fascinating. Many must
have been home made. The wedding dress deisplay must have been great fun,
too. Is your husband's book published? Can we look it up on Amazon? Did
you do the felted flowers? Felting is another this I'd like to do. I've
seen some great practical felt bags and even pails. Did you take pictures?

My place is about 5 miles out of town too, and though I have 40+ acres it's
all ice lens and bog. Not much good for growing anything but moose. I also
started burning (today) to lessen fire danger, now that the snow is almost
gone. I also burn my paper, etc, if for no other reason, for privacy. And
grass will be poking up its nose in another couple weeks. We have a couple
houses we can see from parts of the yard, and a bunch across the valley (or
at least the lights at night). Did your drought break? Oddly, interior
Alaska is classified as a desert because of the low precipitation, though
the ground is damp because the permafrost forms a solid bowl of ice under
the ground.
