Since 1932, The Craft Students League (CSL) has been offering
outstanding programs in fine art and craft to women and men. Our
instructors are artists with excellent training, teaching skills and
professional backgrounds. The Craft Students League offers classes in
Book Binding and Boxmaking. Learn basic techniques, develop skills or
master a craft in our spacious, well- equipped studios.

The Book Arts studio offers bookbinding tools and equipment including
board shears, two job backers, and an assortment of presses, sewing
frames, and brass finishing tools. The studio is also furnished with a
hot stamping press with several fonts, lying and finishing presses,
and a plough press for trimming. Materials provided to students
include binder boards, decorated papers, and page papers

Bookbinding and Box Making
A unique opportunity for an intensive, fun and rewarding "two-in-one"
learning experience. Make different types of blank books including an
album. Using decorative papers and bookbinding cloth, familiarize
yourself with binding materials, tools and adhesives. After learning
book structures, continue using these techniques to start your
fabulous box, covered in decorative papers designed and sized by you.
More experienced students continue on advanced projects. Bring a bone
folder and pencil to the first class. Materials fee: $15

Asian-inspired Keepsake Box
In one day, create a cloth-covered, Asian-inspired folding box with
ribbon-tie closure that also opens flat for presentation of your
favorite keepsakes, postcards or photographs. Then add personal art or
photographs to the front cover. Learn all the basics of box making
including tools and use of various adhesives and materials. A
fast-paced class! Supply list is mailed. Materials fee: $25.
