Default lounge chair

I have a lounge chair that has the rubber straps across it instead of the
nylon webbing. The rubber has started to dry rot and I need to re-do the
straps.
Has anyone done this before and if so, can you tell me where I can get the
materials I need?
Any tips on repairing this chair would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom in SC

You are correct, I assume it would be plastic strips that run from one

side
to the other rather than rubber. The chair would be in the sun, but not
continous, just when it was in use. I know it would make since to get
another chair, but this was my moms and I would like to get it fixed and

use
it.
Thanks for your reply,
Tom

Okay. Now that we've cleared up that, here
is a web site if you live in the USA:

http://www.chaircarepatio.com/v_strap.html

If you live elsewhere, then do a GOOGLE
search on the words "vinyl strap" or "vinyl web"
and you might find a local supplier.

Hi Tom

I had an old vinyl weaved lawn chair that the frau did not want
regular lawn chair strap put on.

What I did was buy a heavy vinyl aisle runner (hallway mat) and slit
it into equivalent width pieces. It held up for about 5 seasons of
use.

The next go around, I used some commercial awning canvas from a store
that was replacing their tan awning with a bright maroon.
I also cut this into strips but slightly over twice the width, seamed
the edge on a sewing machine using monofilament then turned it inside
out placing the seam on the underside dead center of the now flat
straps. It is still holding up just fine and shows almost no signs of
wear after at least 4 years since I did this.

TTUL
Gary
