Default 2nd applique project

My first applique wallhanging came out so well I got over my "fear" of
applique. Today I completed 1 of 4 blocks for a Sunbonnet Sue WH and she
came out really cute. So now ready to tackle the other 3! The 1st applique
project (Moon over the Mountain) I used sew on interfacing and then slit and
turned. For Sue, I used the wonder under iron-on. Both were machine applique
using the blanket stitch. I put her on a cream BG. The only thing I did not
like about her is the WOW I used for her petticoat and sleeve--it did not
stand out as much as it would have in a color so will have a color for those
items on the other blocks.

This morning I also finished piecing a WH I started several weeks ago.

sue sounds adorable. how bout adding some embroidery and beads or something
extra so the WOW area shows up better.
i made one and used a wee piece of lace along the edge of her skirt for a
petticoat. you can embellish with lots of goodies.
you can do the embroidery easily with some DMC by hand. cut a short piece
then untwist the 6 threads and use 2 or 3, which ever will look best on
there in the stitch you will use. nothing says our Sue has to be plain and
simple. have you seen the 'bad sue' site?

Hadnt thought abt beads! That could spice up all 4 Sues I had thought abt
lace but at the time I was sewing her, it slipped my mind. I'm sure I have
some lace floating around the house. Guess I will pick up a few beads at
Walmart tommorrow too!

I'm doing the Moondance BOM also. I finally decided on doing it for
my RCTQ BOM. The only problem I have had is that you really do need
to wait a couple of days after she posts the new blocks because the
last two have had mistakes in them that were corrected within a few
days. I'm doing my March block this weekend. I plan on adding
another 7 blocks to the quilt to make it a king size.

thats very true, Mardi and a very good idea to wait.
it happens in everything but when you are a beginnner and some of our yahoo
group sure are rank beginners, if theres a mistake its very frustrating for
them as well as those of us who plow in headfirst without reading and
re-reading the instructions first.

t'were moi who posted to the group to wait, within a couple hours of the
block going online. sure caused a big old can of worms. made me feel so bad
i just kept right out of the rest of that following posts.
we have a few of us using yahoo msg'r that have opened a new room in msg'r.
its a private room, not on the chat room public lists.
you need an invite first then can add it to your list of fav chat rooms and
check in there anytime to see if anyone is home.
if you'd like to come in, find me on msg'r as nzlstar and i'll show ya where
it is.
i hope thats clear.
this room gives us a chance to discuss the blocks before we start sewing.
too often when someone makes a mistake either its not noticed or no one says
anything and then all hell breaks loose.
fwiw, if you're interested, you know where i am now.

I'm downloading the "Moondance" patterns - haven't started yet as I still
need to finish "Year in the Garden" from LAST year!! But, I have gotten two
co-workers to start on it (both lovers of batiks!) I'm so glad she takes
the time to do these BOMs.
