Default UPDATE: Fab Shop Hop, Court & Prayers

Whew!!! What a wicked and wonderful week. I am so glad to be back home with
my QI's though. Thank you all for the prayers and suggested places to Fab
Shop.

We left here on Thursday morning and drove straight through to Council
Bluffs, about 22 hours. LOONG trip. The friends that we stayed with had
just moved back there from Ft. Drum the weekend before. Please keep them in
your prayers. He is being deployed to Afghanistan tomorrow. Anyway, we got
to visit with Scott before he had to leave to come back to NY and that was
nice. We also were able to help Deb get a lot of stuff done unpacking and
hubby did some electrical work and other repairs for her. So that worked out
nicely.

On Saturday, Deb and I went on a fabric jaunt. We went to Hobby Lobby and I
found a maroon hand dyed fabric on sale at 50% off. There was only 1 1/2 yds
left so I took it all. I love those hand dyed fabrics and can't find much
around here. Then we went to The Country Sampler fabric store. FABULOUS
store with friendly people. I found the fabric that I had been looking for.
Yesssssss!!!! The one that I had originally found in FL and couldn't find
around here. It was funny because when I spotted it, I was so excited that I
yelled excitedly across the room to Deb that I found it. All the ladies in
there kept teasing me about finding it. So I got some of that only to find
it a couple of days later, almost $2 cheaper at Hancock's. Oh well. Then we
went to Hancock's in Omaha and I found a sort of teal solid fabric that I
needed for a baby quilt and couldn't find in NY. I pretty much spent my
fabric budget that day but it was great. I was so excited.

Then on Monday we went to court. Neither the ex-wife nor her attorney showed
up for court. So our attorney put hubby on the witness stand to testify
about the way she has denied his visitation and refused to pay her share of
transportation costs. The judge found her in contempt and sentenced her to 7
days in jail and awarded us attorney fees and court costs. So on Wednesday,
we drove up to pick up the girls. I won't even go into the details of that
horrid incident. Needless to say, we still didn't get the girls. She
wouldn't make them go, said it was "their choice" even though we had the
court papers there stating that the desires of the children do not relieve
her of her responsibility in abiding by the court orders. So after 3 hours
of standing in the hot sun and trying to convince the girls that they need
to come with us, things fell apart and we ended up leaving. So we're pretty
much back to square one on that front. We left and went back to CB.

I guess hubby felt sorry for me cause he told me I could buy some more
fabric if I wanted to since I found some there that I couldn't find at home.
So Deb and I went on another fab shop hop. We went out to the Kanesville
Quilting Store to see what they had. Just as we drove up the owner (I assume
she was the owner anyway) was turning the sign from Open to Closed and she
gave us this look that was well...she let us know that there was no way she
was going to stay open for our business. So we left and went to Hancock's. I
found some more hand dyes that I just had to have so I got 5 different
colors that were regular price and one that was 50% off and another print
that I needed for the baby quilt. Now here's the kicker. Deb and I got a
huge laugh out of this. We were standing at the cutting table with my 7
bolts of fabric when the woman from the Kanesville Quilt store walk past and
looked at us then at my fabric. Normally I wouldn't think anything of it but
the way she looked at us when we drove up to her store was just rude. I'm
really debating if I even want to go back to her store the next time I'm out
there. Anyway, I came home with some fabulous fabric. I am so excited.

We're both glad to be back home now though. The kitties sure missed us too.
I just wanted to update you all on how things went. It's not over yet but
we'll deal with it. Thank you all again for the support and prayers.

Mika
