Hi,
I know this is an odd request. I am sewing a dress and panties outfit
(McCalls 3994, you can see it here http://www.mccallspatterns.com) for my 3
month old granddaughter. However, I'm making it in a larger size, for
babies between 16 and 18 lbs. The directions for the panties say to measure
a piece of elastic to fit comfortably around the babies thigh, then add a
certain amount for overlap. Same for the waist. Needless to say, I can't
measure my granddaughter as the size would be too small. So if you have a
baby between 16 and 18 lbs, would you please do me a favor and tell me what
his or her thigh and waist measurements are?

Thanks!
Kathy

There's a way to win this game. Add an inch or so to whatever measurements
you decide for the elastic lengths. Safety pin the elastic together instead
of sewing it. Leave the tunnel where the elastic runs open for an inch or
so. Send DD a needle and some thread that matches the dress and panties.
Then (!) she can adjust the elastic to be perfect and close the tunnel by
hand.
If DD doesn't know which end of a needle to thread, surely there's a
neighbor or friend who would be happy to do this for her and that sweet
baby. That pattern is just precious. I know you're having a good time with
it. Polly

Hi Kathy!

I measured Jacob (now 3 months old) and his measurements a

10 1/2" around thigh
17 1/2" around waist

he's around the 16- 18 lbs also. HTH!

And the parents of the 8month old measured her (and their 11 month old).
the 8 month old is about 18 pounds...10.5 inches on the thigh, 17.25
inches at the waist.
