Default Shor Roller Marking Machine

I wish to put some nice professional marks on my gold and silver jewelry
(something like what you'll see on an Elsa Peretti or Boucheron ring) --
clean letters nicely spaced, small and readable and cleanly struck. I've
worked with an arbor press and the letters don't come out even all the time.
Also, my pieces are in a variety of shapes (bracelets, necklaces, rings,
tableware) and I need to mark them all.

I've been looking at the Shor roller marking machine at
http://www.shorinternational.com/Marking.htm.

Does anyone have an experience with it or know where I can get a used
version?

Cheers,
PW

Keep in mind that this type of roller only marks the insides of ring shanks.
You'll still need some other means of marking your other pieces. Personally,
I've always ended up returning to hammer driven stamps for most of my marking
except for rings.. I do use the plier type marking pliers on rings, whenit
fits the style of the ring shank. The type of stamping jig shown on that page
in shor below your roller, (both types of device shown) are more versatile in
doing many types of items. Not so good for very long impressions in ring
shanks, which is where the roller excels, but for most typical sized stamped
marks, they work fine. If you've got production items in sufficient multiples
of an item, make an alternative "anvil" to support the work in the jig for
accurate positioning time after time. Jetset thermoplastic material works
decently well for this, or make it in wax and cast in brass or bronze...
