Default Anyone have both the Rose and Platinum 770?

I just ended up buying a Rose as well as the Platinum 770 on ebay.
Sheesh, I'm too impulsive. Anyway, I will be reselling one of them.
I know that the 770 doesn't have embroidery capability, but how useful
is the Rose without the reader? It came with the extra card#30.
I checked out the 770 at Joan's, and being a techno geek, fell in love
with the styling, and wiz bang features. The embroidery I had planned
on is nothing more that perhaps sprucing up some of my daughers
shirts, etc..
Care to share any thoughts on these two machines?
TIA
Eric

Sure you don't want to keep both? I had an Iris and just didn't think I was
going to get enough use out of the embroidery, even though I'd bought an
Ultimate card/reader, so I traded it for a Lily 555. Love the Lily and make
use of its features. But I do have to say, since trading, I've realized that
it might be nice to have an embroidery machine around. I know several people
here have two machines, if only to be able to sew on one while the other is
embroidering.

Eric,
I almost bought a Rose when I bought the 1+ (used). The Rose is a
nice machine. I love Viking machines in general. I'm just not
enamoured of their software prices.
Look for other options on the reader/writer than buying the Viking
proprietary product. I'm looking at the Ulitimate Box by Vikant to use
with my Viking 1+. It also works with Rose if I remember correctly.
There are also options for emboidery software other than from
Viking. If you ask this question over on alt.sewing.mach-embroidery you
will get lots of advice.

Yeah, I heard that The Ultimate BOx is a great idea over the products
that the big manufacturers want you to buy.

Good Luck

Marilyn,

Which one did you end up getting?

Hi,

I think you want to ask Eric that question. I have a Viking 1+ and a
500. I love both of them. I've had the Viking 500 since it was new and
I picked up the 1+ used. I'm hoping that Santa will get me the Ulitmate
Box for Christmas. I've been good, really I have. ;-)

Take a look on Ebay or at Allbrands, there prices are far below that
of the manufacturer,Vikant.
You can get one for around $170.00

Good Luck

I'm still planning on getting the Ultimate Box. Haven't gotten there
yet. Christmas came and went without Santa dropping it off for me. My
husband did get me the Madeira Treasure Chest so I can't complain. I
have _lots_ of thread now. '
Once I pay off the puppy's operation (spaying, nothing unusual) in
January, I should be able to afford the Ultimate Box. I'll drop a note
to the group once I have tried it.

Hope you all had a Merry Christmas!

Thanks, Joanne. I did send for the Ulitmate Box from another vendor
that I have heard good things about. I happily copied some designs onto
my card. No go. My sewing machine isn't recognizing the card. It
still recognizes my other cards so it, presumably, isn't my machine. I
tested to be sure that the designs did transfer and the card was read by
the box. Vikant customer service is quite nice. They said to send the
box and card back in to them because there must be something wrong with
my box or my card. So I'm still waiting. I was so looking forward to
playing with my new toy.
Delayed gratification. I'm sure it will be fine in the end.

Marilyn
