Default My cup runneth over!

Ok, so I was happily sewing away on a few Christmas projects Friday - an
apron and a tea cozy for my oldest dd - and had to stop to do something else
(probably eat!). When I returned to my sewing, I needed to change a bobbin.
I turned on my machine (a lovely Pfaff 7530) so I could bring the bobbin
thread to the top. Nothing happened! Oh, the light was on but nobody was
home. No panel display, no foot pedal, nothing - just the light. Now how
weird is that!? I pondered that one all day. I'd stop trying to get it to
work and go do something else, then come back and try again. Still nothing
(but lots of frustration!)

Saturday morning on the way to get our Christmas tree my dh says, "take it
to the shop, leave it and buy a new one." I was shocked! First of all, I
think he already got me my present. Second of all, do you know what a new
machine costs!?!?! Besides, I didn't know what was wrong with mine.

OK, long story short, I packed her up and drove to the shop. Turns out that
I had lost the Motherboard! Didn't know I had one to lose! It would have
been a $200.00 repair on a 6 yo machine. Anyway, I got a fantastic trade-in
(minus the cost of the MB) and walked out with a new 2056 for a really good
price! It is the upgrade to the 2054 that is only a year old. This is all so
crazy. I wasn't looking to get a new machine. I recently purchased a 1924
model 99 in beautiful condition and a 1910 model 27 treadle head with
pheasant decals and had all the machines I needed for Christmas! Like I
said, my cup runneth over!

I guess I'd better get busy and produce a wonderful new quilt for my
wonderful dh!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Howdy!

Yee-Haw!

Laurie, you rock! And so does your husband!!

This is just a really cool story; reminds me of when I went to
"look" at cars about 5 yrs. ago, when the a/c went out on my old-old
Mercedes. Came home w/ a new Plymouth; traded it a yr. later
after I "looked" at the PT Cruiser and then sat in it: SOLD! G
Senedipity is always just around the corner.

Congrats. Enjoy that new baby.

Ragmop/Sandy--laughing over the "I didn't know it had a motherboard to lose"
part; used to see quilt students come into the quilt shop w/
their
brand new machines who said, "It's got some kind of computer in
it..." LOL

Good question, although I didn't ask. I think I was already thinking about
the new machine too much to care!

I know! He is always supportive of my addictions, er, hobbies! But then, it
goes both ways. I have no problem with him spending time doing what he loves
to do and actually encourage it - alot!
