Reposting some "original" knots
Hi All,
I've just joined The International Guild of Knot Tyers - Pacific Americas Branch. At the meeting tonight, which fortunately for me meets ten minutes from my home, I told the group that I would be reposting my (so far as I know) "original" knots for their and the newsgroup's edification and review. One of these, the knot I call the "Figure Four Bend" is probably not original, but I'm including it as I believe that I have discovered it to be the strongest bend that can be easily untied even after the rope or line has been brought to enough tension to break a Hunter's Bend or a Zeppelin Bend (which it always does when tied in series with one of them). I hope you find the descriptions adequate and the scans (the pictures were taken on a scanner) clear enough to tie the knots themselves. The explanatory text for the knots will appear on rec.crafts.knots and the .jpg images of them along with this message and the explanations will appear on alt.binaries, which from my server has a slower propagation time so they may not be there yet when you look. Regards, O J (Old John) Gritmon |

Could you post some message IDs, so those of us who don't frequent the groups can see your words and pictures of wisdom without having to trawl through the rest of the messages there? Thanks! Ask and ye shall receive. Sorry, I use a regular newsreader so I can get away with retrieving just the headers and then just sorting by author. I shouldn't have assumed that everyone else uses the same access. Here are the message ID's from alt.binaries. The posts to rec.crafts.knots are just text messages that also appear in alt.binaries but without the pictures attached. Subject: Reposting some "original" knots Message-ID: Subject: Figure Four Bend Message-ID: Subject: Lynda's Loop Message-ID: Subject: Perfect Package Announcement Message-ID: Subject: Relockable Loop Knot Announcement Message-ID: Sorry for the inconvenience!
