Estimating a pearl's worth
Oh ok, thank you
"G N" wrote in message . .. "dig" wrote in message ... Last night a friend showed me a pearl he found a long time ago. It was so huge - still stuck in the oyster shell I measured it the best I could and figure it's about 32 mm at the longest length and 22 mm at the shortest. Searching the net, I can't find any clue as to what kind of ballpark he could be in with it's worth. Can anyone give a range of what pearls that size are worth? I know it depends on different factors - but you know, what could it be worth? Thank you Sounds like a "Baroque" Pearl, unfortunately its probably not worth a great deal. Pearls are valued on their roundness, as it is a lot rarer for an oyster to produce a perfect round shape than a non-round shape. This type of Pearl is becoming popular but don't expect much for it, I would approximate about $10-$20 maybe more for this size. |
