scissors sharpening services
I don't know about the people in your area who sharpen scissors, but if you own
Gingher scissors you can return them to the factory for sharpening. Sandy in Chapel Hill, NC QuiltShopHopper wrote: Do the fellas that sharpen your scissors at LQSs do a good job? I mean, do they have the tools required to do a good job, worthy of the price, in your experience? I don't want to have to take all my scissors to the mall knife store, that charges so much that you might as well buy new scissors for the prices they charge. I bought one of those sharpeners from TSWLTH, and I can't find it in the house anywhere. I haven't even used it once yet. I just don't have all my ducks in a row over here. cyndi |

Hi there. Yes, it was I. ( ten points from all the grammar nuts?) I sent
my favorite Ginghers back to Gingher. They came home quickly and good as new. I did have terrible withdrawal symptoms while being separated from my Ginghers. Polly Butterfly wrote in message ... Was it Polly? Sandy? ohhhhhhh no.......my mind is right behind yours Butterfly |

Local scissors sharpener was awful. I sent mine back to Heimerdinger's (a
scissors store in Louisville KY) and they did a marvelous job. Couldn't be happier. Well, I could be thinner and that would make me somewhat happier. joan down 25 pounds! joan o'reilly New 311 Album--EVOLVER--July 22nd www.311.com |

You know.. now that you mention it.. it *was* you! Thanks for stepping
forward. It was a relief to know there was somewhere to send mine when they need sharpening. Im thinking.. another 20 years and they might need it? Some months ago someone here on the group gave us a report on sending their ginghers in to be sharpened by the gingher people and was quite pleased. I just got mine back and am delighted. It only took about 2.5 weeks. Quoting from their site: "If the blades are open when they are dropped the cutting edges will dig into one another at the point of impact, creating an imperfection or nick in the cutting edges which impairs the feel and cutting capability of the product." Mine had been dropped onto a tile floor and the 'imperfection' was so deep that I couldn't close them. They're perfect now. I had thought they were still pretty sharp before, but wow, what a difference. http://www.gingher.com/mainpages/repair.htm Liz |
