om...
Welcome...this is a great place to be. You will meet some very
talented people here. Have you had to ask yourself "Am I a fabric
collector or a quilter" yet? I am into it not quite a year yet and I am

hopelessly addicted to both
buyig fabric and making blocks. Some of the blocks even get connected

and turn out to be quilts !!!

Thank you for the welcome, Kathy. Yes... At times I think I am just a fabric
collector but it is so much fun. I looked at your pictures and they are
beautiful. How long did it take you to make each one? You really put a lot
of work into them and you must have a lot of patience. I've made a few
crazy quilt blocks but they are just "waiting" to be connected. I did make
some miniature landscape quilts and am now sketching scenes for some other
ones. I have been experimenting with making some ribbon, thread and lace
appliques for an underwater scene I am working on. I had made a fish
sometime ago using ideas from Susan Carlson's book on Freeform Quilting and
got some ideas for a background using different shades of blue and gray and
am slowly working that idea through. It is so much fun. Your postcard of
Alaska is breathtaking. . I would love to see that in a quilt. What part of
Alaska do you live in?

I just signed up for this newsgroup and wanted to say hello. Have been
quilting only about 6 months and have done mostly crazy quilt squares,

free
form quilting, and landscape quilting. I took a class at Quilt

University
which was really great and am totally addicted to quilting. I signed up

for
another one later on this month. It's nice to find so many people

involved
in so many different aspects of quilting.

Hullo Durga
If you are planning an underwater scene; have a go at doing an overlay
(in a suitable, watery colour) with some silk chiffon. Looks
fantastic!!

Thanks Patti, will give that a try. I have never used silk chiffon before.
Is it like tulle?

I seem to remember that tulle is stiff?
Chiffon is very soft, with a very fine weave - gorgeous stuff.
