Marissa:
Ah, I assumed you want product information
and KiteFlyer is addressing the installation.
So, what do you need to know? We had laminate
flooring installed in the kitchen, but we did
not do the work ourselves. Look he

See the pretty 'tile' flooring in the Better
Living Photo? That is what we have. It is
wonderful. Each tile is laid out separately
in groups of small, medium, large tiles.
There are actual little grooves for the faux
'grouting' and the tiles are textured like
real tiles. So the texture and feel underfoot
is pleasant, with bonus of being comfortable
and not cold. NAYY. HTH.

Answering my own post?! To clarify:
click on residential section, then good
living tiny picture, then scroll the text for
the hyper-link words good living. THAT should
open to pictures, including the Better Living
Photo I mentioned. WHEW! PAT

Had it installed twice in the kitchen, both times they did it wrong and
I can tell it.

here is the question. the instructions tell us to lay the boards along
the longest wall. if we do that, we figured we need a sliver of a board
to finish it. the room is not square so the sliver turns wider and wider
as we move towards the door frame. they also reccomend the light should
be paralell to the lenght of the boards...

I was thinking that it might be better to put them paralell the back
wall with the little window, there will be more cuts but we can make the
last cut at a slight angle and accomodate the fact the room is not
squared up.

is that a bad idea you think

this is the loft above the garage which we are fixing for our inlaws who
are coming in two weeks to stay with us for a month

the walls are now light cream, and the ugly flooring is gone....

it is the installation. we already bought the cheapest laminate we found
99c a sq foot, but from what I read not a bad brand, mannington

btw, yesterday we had a couple of people over and I realized half of our
furniture or more are things we have made or fixed ourselves! not only I
felt very thrifty, I also felt very proud that I have a custom home!

I should post pics of how the house has been transformed in the last 6
months... all cosmetic, but it is a different place, very much ours!

Like a quilt, you can do it any way you like. If you want to run the
long way, begin by cutting the first piece lengthwise so you don't have
a sliver at the end. If the other walls are square, you couldrun the
boards widthwise and cut the ends at the angle (less noticable). If you
really want to have fun and a good look, install all at an angle (lots
more cutting and waste).

Like my quilts, my floor looks good to everyone but me (I know where the
mistakes are ) I assume it will float so just leave the 1/4" gaps
around the room and make sure you press the individual boards together
tightly.

In the end, there is no wrong way, whatever looks good to you.
