Default Maybe this is an old quilters rack

Cleaning out my fil's attic. He just died, and was 85. Found
something...and I can't quite figure out what it is. It *may* have
something to do with quilting. I found no makers mark...It is wood..each
length or side has measurement numbers, and protruding nails.
The top and bottom are 96" long..(from left to right, the numbers) It is 48
inches tall.
When it is put together, there is one piece of wood, with numbers and the
protruding nails...that *travels* the width of the top and bottom pieces.
Any ideas?
If someone has a clue, I'll take photos...
Perry

Sounds like curtain stretchers to me. People used to wash their lace
curtains, starch them, then put them on these stretchers to dry.

Betty...I think you are right...My mom had them until the early 50's...I
loved helping her put curtains
on them !.....

And if it is, I may be interested in purchasing it, if you're willing to
part with it.

Sounds like what my aunt used to use to dry her curtains on--don't know the
exact name, maybe curtain stretchers.

That's what they are - curtain stretchers. I've poked my fingers many times
when I was a kid - we would wash the lace curtains while doing spring house
cleaning and that's how they were dried on the curtain stretchers.

By all accounts, I am going to make an educated guess that it is a curtain
stretcher. The barbs or nails is what threw me off.
