HEADS UP! Webshots is going to paid subscription only
Some of you may already know this but the free Webshots service is going
away and "Smile by Webshots" is taking it's place. For more info - http://smile.webshots.com/landing Make sure to read the fine print. While the word Free is quite prominent in several places the fact is the service will only be free until the official launch. At that time you only get a 30 day free trial. If you don't want to stay with Webshots/Smile and want to save your photos, they do have a service where they will send them to your email in zip files. Unfortunately you just get the photos. Any captions or comments you had with them are lost. I know many of you use Webshots so I hope this helps. I know I don't remember getting an email from them about this change and only found out about it from a different forum. ~*~ Jeri |

*THANK YOU* for letting us know about Webshots! My desktop puter died and I lost many photos along with it and losing the photos on Webshots would have doubled the loss. I have noooooo idea what a zip drive might be, but I guess I'll be learning soon. LOL

Double thank you, Jeri.
Leslie, a zip file is just a compressed version of the file. If you don't have WinZip on your computer, (I don't), there are free programs out there to unzip it. I'll let my resident computer geek handle that. Once you have the zip file you have all your pictures, so go to Webshots and put in request to download them. Google seems to have lost it's mind. Again. What I *tried* to post is that I have my zip files from WebShots and I do not have WinZip.

Same here- everything is gone as far as labels and comments and organization and my pic by pic instructions for making many sewn projects. And now I have 489 photos in a 'glomp' and I'll have to view every one of them to find the one I want. Really, they are pretty much useless to me without a ton of work to reorganize them. Sheesh! Free aint all it's cracked up to be.... it seems there's a fairly high price in the end.

Jeri gave us the link http://smile.webshots.com/landing Follow it thru several hard-to-find steps (I think they try to make it confusing to 'encourage' people to pay the fee rather than mess with the zip file request) and, finally, you will be able to request your zip files be emailed to you.
Good luck... it was an extremely frustrating journey for me to get WinZip, download my pics from the zip file and then try to figger out where the pics landed on my puter. My thanks to Dee in Oz for her help and encouragement which kept me working at it. ;-) Now the sorting and labeling... Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
