Default Need Book Suggestion!

Here is a request to help spend someone else's money. That is
always fun! What newly published quilting book, or durable
quilting accessory or tool, would you recommend as a 'prize' for
a quilter? Reward for a reaching a weight loss goal. Price up to
about $30 USA. This person likes bright and cheery quilts, does
SM piecing and applique, *usually* machine quilts, is comfortable
with drafting or adapting designs, is smart, talented, and
gorgeous too!! ;-)

I may have mentioned this once or twice before ;-) but I *loved* Jan
Mullen's book "Cut Loose Quilts". The quilts are certainly bright and
cheery, and the technique she uses can easily be adapted to make unique
quilts - you don't have to just stick to the "recipes" in the book.

As for a quilting accessory or tool, you'd need to know what she already
has. I'd love a pair of quilting gloves, but that's no use if she
already has them. I've been using a tack gun for basting recently, and
it's been a boon. That'd be a great prize if she doesn't already have
one.

talented and gorgeous"? Hmmmm. You didn't mention "humble" or "modest".

Blush! Quit talking about me like that!!! If I didn't already have it,
I would recommend Fons and Porter's "Quilter's Complete Guide".

But you can send me fabric instead!!

Cheers,

I would vote for Jan Mullen's books.
Either "Cut Loose Quilts" or "Reverse Appliqué with No Brakez" *nzl, did
you have something to do with that title?? grins
They are full of happy bright cheery patterns that make you stretch your
boundaries.

Howdy!
"Elm Creek Quilts" by ... ummm..
oh, yeah, Jennifer Chiaverini. It's full of bright, color-filled quilt
pictures, there's piecing and applique', and it's a pretty book.
http://www.elmcreek.net/
It's my newest favorite quilt book.
Durable: "Quilts, Quilts, Quilts", by
Diana McClun & Laura Nownes, is comprehensive,
and I just like it!

I see I'm not the first to suggest it, but the first two books that came to
my mind are also Cut Loose Quilts by Jan Mullen & Freddy Moran's House.
There is another book, with a similar design concept to Cut Loose Quilts,
titled Stack the Deck, by Karla Alexander. Bright, colorful, fun designs!
