Keziah's Baby Quilt is finished!
The quilt is quite large by newborn standards but the bordering had to
happen this way! The quilt finished at 50"x64" with the kaleidoscope blocks measuring 7" each, the green border strip finished at 3-3/4" and the pinwheels were 4" finished. I paper-pieced Keziah's name for the top border and extended the "K" and "h" blocks to make up the difference in the border measurement. I didn't want to repeat the name in the bottom border so I paper pieced "2010" instead and extended the outer blocks to fill in the gaps of the pinwheel blocks. This was the first time that I worked with wool batting - hot work during the latest heatwave! The cats loved the wool though and there were quite a few soggy bits during the quilting. I had intended to use a circular quilting path for the kaleidoscopes but changed my mind after 'finding' the backing of diamonds in my stash. Pictures of the quilt and also my QI's doing their jobs can be found in the "Finished is Good" album at http://community.webshots.com/user/barnyowl Keziah's quilt will be shipped to Belgium via Florida when my neighbours return from their vacation. jennellh |

Not only did I really like this quilt, but it is fun to see the old names pop up now and then. My husband's grandmother was Keziah and would have been born in the late 1800s. She's the only one I ever came across. Moni |

She'll love that quilt forever and be able to use it for a long time!
You did a wonderful job quilting the border, and I really love the PP name and date. Oh my! So pretty and so special. Atta girl. Just a whole lot curious -
how on earth did you manage the pictures with absolutely zero QI participation? Not even a whisker. Polly "Roberta" Roberta@Home wrote in message ... Keziah's Baby Quilt is finished!
I cheated on the photos! My neighbours, who commissioned the quilt,
left their door keys with me so that I could empty their mail box .... yesterday, I took the finished quilt to their apartment for the purpose of taking the photos.......the quilt is now stored inside a pillowcase awaiting their return from Florida. Glad you like it, jennellh On Jul 30, 7:49*am, "Polly Esther" wrote: Oh my! *So pretty and so special. *Atta girl. *Just a whole lot curious - how on earth did you manage the pictures with absolutely zero QI participation? * Not even a whisker. *Polly "Roberta" Roberta@Home wrote in message ... I love the old names too and this one begged to be googled for
origins, etc. My neighbour told me that the mother-to-be is African and that the name in her country means "beautiful" while the origins are ancient Hebrew meaning 'spice' and 'equality'...jennellh On Jul 30, 12:20*am, Ramona Walker wrote: On Thu, 29 Jul 2010 18:41:04 -0700 (PDT), Jennifer in Ottawa wrote: *I paper-pieced Keziah's name for the top border and extended the "K" and "h" blocks to make up the difference in the border measurement. Wow, that's a gorgeous quilt. I'm always awed by quilts with intricate
pieces like this one. And the quilting is amazing. The whole thing is perfect and Keziah is one lucky kid. Sunny |

What a beautiful, beautiful quilt! The colors are wonderful and I
love the way the blocks work together. Babies grow into big babies lol so it would still mak a perfect car/couch blanket.....or use it for wall art. It's just beautiful. Donna in WA |
