Default Photographing your beads - I'd be glad to tell you

thank you!
using that type of light probably wouldn't have occurred to me.

You are quite welcome! Sometimes I have to hold the Ott Lite in odd positions
or I place it on something that is lower than the table that the jewelry is on
to get just the right light. I also try to do the photos in a room with bright
daylight.

See? This is great. THIS is the place for this sort of thing. Or email
Caren! She's happy to help with your photography problems!

Don't email a stranger and assume they can drop whatever they're doing to make
you a professional. It's presumptuous and rude. That's what I'm saying. DO
IT HERE.

Try not answering - they'll keep writing, getting increasingly
strident and angry - especially the "free dog" people. I've had
people say that they live in New England, and they'd be happy to come
to my home to get their free rescue dog. (Like I have a hundred of
them in my back pocket) They get very angry when I tell them I have
one dog, and she's not going anywhere - and that there are no "free
dogs." Ever.

It's a lot more of an imposition that you'd ever dream.

Yes. "Imposition" being a KEY word here.

It's not what you're imagining, those of you who think I've been harsh. These
people are often demanding and nasty. Not all are nice. And--- many "nice"
ones can turn mean on a dime.

I am not here for their edification. If I were, I'd hold classes, or do other
official things. It is not a wise use of my time to be available for everyone
day in and day out. I don't have enough time for *me* most of the time. Since
when am I (or anyone else) a kiosk of info for everyone on the planet?

Totally. I would never impose on a fellow beadmaker to teach me anything,
without offering some kind of payment in return. I feel weird asking
someone what color of glass they used in a particular bead, and will only do
that if I know the person. This can translate to anyone with a skill in an
area where other people are looking to learn. If I want to learn something,
the first thing I do is make an internet search. I check out the forums to
see what has already been posted about a topic. Then I research the
availability of classes.

Also, it's not just one email once in awhile (as Kathy has pointed out).
It's *all the time* and people don't understand that they are not the only
one who's asking. I've had people tell me they wish I would write a book.
Oh, if I only had the time! LOL I would rather make beads. And there are
already tons of books out there.

Remember this next time you want to ask someone you don't know some question.
Check their FAQs first....do a Google search....etc.

There are systems in place for this kind of knowledge search.

1) Internships: Where we can exchange our hours in order to learn form a pro.

2) Mentorships: Where we can find a willing professional to shepherd us.
(Key word: WILLING.)

3) Classes.

4) Ithe Internet: Google, FAQs, and more.
