Default Coated paper?

How can you tell if a paper is coated? I used pigment ink on a card
and several hours later when the ink still hadn't dried, I used my
heat gun. Of course that didn't work, and I finally thought "it might
be coated paper and it will never dry." So I was wondering for future
reference, how can I tell if the paper is coated? Obviously I know
this particular one is!
