Can it be made acid free?

Or do you need to use the archival mist?

When you "make paper" you are actually just recycling paper, so if you use acid
free paper, your end result should also be acid free. If you are in doubt
about the acidity of your paper you can test the slush with litmus paper.

Well, some people do make homemade paper from "scratch," but it's a
laborious process involving heat, pounding of plant fibers and unpleasant
chemicals. But yes, most people who made homemade paper go the much easier
route, turning macerated paper back into pulp and proceeding from there.

I've read that you can neutralize the acid in the recycled version of
homemade paper by adding a mild alkali - calcium carbonate is apparently
the usual choice - to the pulp; I don't know how much, but I'd imagine it
would be fairly easy to figure amounts by trial-and-error, using litmus
paper as Margaret suggests.
