Ok I feel guilty for asking but I need some help with prayers. My dr
wants to break my water on friday to make baby come. I know it's only a
few days difference from my actual due date but this scares the bugs out
of me. I was induced with my first cuz my water broke a month early.
Needless to say that baby didn't want to come out. It was horrible and
the baby came out literally black and blue. Now it's possible that he'll
break the water and that will be enough to start labor all by itself and
everything will happen naturally after that. So I'd like to ask for
prayers that labor starts naturally before friday afternoon. I've been
having pains today strong enough to stop me in my tracks but nothing
regular. All the help I can get I would sure be thankful.
Thanx

You don't have to agree to this treatment if you're not happy about it.
Has your doctor explained why she or he wants to do this? Did you
understand and are you happy with the explanation? If the answer to
either of these questions is no, you should either ask the doctor to
explain again, or ask for a different doctor and a different opinion. I
don't know how easy it is to do these things in your system, but I know
you don't have to agree to any medical treatment if you're not happy
about it.

I've been
having pains today strong enough to stop me in my tracks but nothing

It sounds to me like this baby will come without the doctor needing to
do anything but IANAD. Are you aware there are things you can do to help
this labour along naturally? For example, you may find that walking or
just keeping upright helps keep the contractions strong and make them
more regular. Ask your doctor about what you can do yourself to help
this baby come.

All the help I can get I would sure be thankful.
Thanx

I'll be praying for you and your baby, for courage and strength for you
and for a happy, healthy labour and birth.

Hullo Joanna
Poor you. I hope and pray all will be well. I haven't any experience I
can quote, but I do understand that they have these inducement
techniques down to a fine art now (they use them more) than they had
probably, when your first little one was born.
Try not to worry, or the baby might not like the idea of this world
he/she's supposed to come out into g.

If you don't want to induce, don't. Take it from someone who has made that mistake
twice, and ended up with C-sections and all kinds of other complications. Please
listen to your body, not your doctor's schedule. Then if you end up going a couple
weeks after your due date, reconsider, but definitely not early so that the doctor
won't be inconvenienced. To me, that's just completely unprofessional, and unsafe
for both you and your baby.

I agree with both Mel and Jalynne. There are reasons to induce but those
dont happen very often. Inductions tend to lead to C sections and they take
a heck of a lot longer to heal from.
If it aint broke, dont fix it!
Diana, sending prayers that you and your baby have a timely birth, easy on
both of you.

If this is purely for his convenience, Just Say No! Baby will come in
his/her own good time. If that happens to be 3 am on Christmas Morning,
so be it. Have a ((((((HUG)))))) and relax, the prayers are on the way.

Now, nip out and get a good strong Indian take-away curry and some
decent beer, have supper, and just wait and see...

It worked for me! James came on his due day, at 4:25 am!

If your Doctor suggested this ask him why and what would be the pros and
cons of it. When Amanda was born I was 1 week late and dialated to 3cm.
Doc broke the water to start labour and she arrived 7 hours later. He might
have seen changes to suggest you are in very early labour. Prayers for a
safe relatively pain free delivery and a very healthy baby.
