Now Kay, I really don't know if what I'm asking can be whipped out in 5
minutes or is a royal pain-in-the-neck. Would you show us the square with
white stars on blue? Maybe I should just buy an EQ and leave you in

peace.
The easy way would be to get out my crayons and see for myself. I can do
that and let you return to your regularly-scheduled day. Polly

hey Kay,
i could change any or all the colours on any fabric in EQ4.
surely they didnt remove that option in EQ6???
try right clicking on the fabric, that is the right design, when you've put
it into the palette.
then fiddle the colours to your liking.
pick the colour to change on the left box, then in the right box you scroll
thru the different colours in your palette.
now make sure you've got as many colours in your palette as you might need
but the basic should cover most needs there.
fiddle one colour on the left at a time, saving when you get any possibles,
then they all show up in the palette.
course if you want to use them on other projects you gotta save them from
the palette back into the library too.
check your help files.
i've not uploaded EQ4 into this new hard drive yet so i'm working from my
bad memory, lol.
hope that makes enough sense to figure it out.

I'm not Kay, but I might be able to help ... I've got my manual and Fran's
EQ6 Simplified sitting right here. ;-)

Do you mean change your colors/fabrics globally while in the quilt edit
mode? Such as changing all of the left hand triangles on each same block in
the same position to a new color or new fabric?

If so, press the control key while you click on the block you want to change
with the new color/fabric ...

Or is that not what you mean?

Or do you mean if a fabric swatch is green with white stars I could make
that fabric purple with yellow stars?

Hummmm, couldn't figure out what is different -- I don't think we have drawn
our stars the same. Mine has a corner (like making a snowball or bowtie) in
the middle portion of the top row, and yours has a HST. It sure makes the
coloring different!

yup.
take any fabric in the library, copy to the palette, change the colours but
keep the fabric design the same.
then save that into your current palette and save also into the library for
future use if you fancy.
as i said, i've got EQ4 and its not installed on this new h/d yet so cant
really recall the 'how to' bit.
check thru the help files tho, should be in there on EQ6 as well or try what
was suggested below.

WOW!! Now that would definitely come in handy. Tried it in EQ5 and EQ6,
but couldn't get that option when I right-clicked on a quilt or on a block.
I do have some EQ3 and EQ4 fabric palettes. Were those actual fabrics in
EQ3 and EQ4?

i have EQ4 only.
i make these changes after loadin fabs in the palette iirc.
drag any fabs with the right texture/design on them into your palette.

then from the palette highlight the fabric you want to adjust colours on.
then right click on it and left click on 'add colorways'
the new box shows up.
in the left side use arrows to pick the colour on the design you want to
change.
then on the right side use arrows to pick the new colour for that one.
back to the left, arrow for a different colour to change.
again to the right side to pick a new colour for that one.
keep doing this thru all the colours you want to change in that fabric.

at any point in the process, with any # of colours changed,
you can click the 'add' button and it will be put into the current palette.
this will give you a bunch of new colourways in your palette to play with in
that block/quilt design.
when i do this i usually 'add' lots so i have the choice when i start
designing blocks/quilts.

if you want to save any of those into the librarys...
after 'add' ing any new colourways to the palette and closing that window...
click at top of main window on librarys, then 'add fabric'...adds the new
fabs to the library.
similar to any other saving of things on the puter there.
holler if you get stuck, i've loaded up EQ to be sure i had my
version/instructions right for ya.
cheers,
jeanne

If I remember correctly, a lot of the "fabrics" in the earlier versions
of EQ were virtual fabrics, not scans of actual fabric. Just checked.
IF you look in EQ5, Fabric Library, you can see EQ4 and EQ3 fabrics.
When you put the cursor on them there is no "pop up" of the name of the
fabric. So they aren't "real" fabrics, but ones made up by the staff.
Which is probably why you can change the color of them.

And I made a quilt!!

Also in Quilts in Progress - Kiwi inspecting the latest baby quilt. It
now has the borders on, and I hope to get it sandwiched tomorrow, and
photos without Kiwi, hopefully! will follow soon.
