There's that little thing about using acid-free paper products with fabric.
I'd be leery of using plain ol' cardboard. But then I am with the others who wouldn't give up their storage space for the thickness of the cardboard or whatever. I stack my fabric horizontally on shelves about 7 in. apart- it's much easier than trying to pull a hunk of fabric out of a vertical stack. Leslie & The Furbabies in MO. "Carolyn McCarty" wrote in message ... Seems to me a person could do much the same thing with cardboard (the back-of-the-tablet weight) for a fraction of the cost, and wouldn't take up so much space. Gosh, I just don't think I'd want to take the time to wrap every piece
of fabric I have, around those cardboard thingys. Not to mention, the fabric would be exposed to light unless you rotated it all the time. Nah.... I'll just keep mine on the shelves in the closet. It really LOOKS pretty though! Patti in Seattle |

I've looked at them. Decided that 1. they take up a lot of space that
isn't fabric. and 2. the money could better be spent on fabric. G I fold fabric and store it in (open top) banker's boxes, or plastic totes. (Put box or tote on end, lay folded fabric on end that is now "bottom". Easy to see it all, and to remove just what you want, if you don't pack the box/tote too full.) great looking sewing room, Rusty. I've done something similar, though
I haven't got a whole room for all my quilting stuff. What I did reminds me of the commercial where the parents said goodbye to their child and then rushed to off to have some fun. I rushed into the house and took over the now extra bedroom and have shelves in the closet, removing the hanging space entirely, and then stacked all my fabric by color and size. Musicmaker |

I was having problems with folded fabric on a shelf not staying in
good piles. Now I place a stack of plastic shoeboxes filled with UFO's on the center of the shelf and a stack of fabric on either side. These stacks are easier to use and stay organized better. susan On Tue, 4 Sep 2007 19:12:46 -0400, "Boca Jan" wrote: oops http://www.thefabricorganizer.com/index.htm |

Thanks for the pictures. I need to show them to my family so they can
see that others have lots of fabric. Of course I still have more but they have never seen anyone with even as much as you. Debra:
If you click the 'buy it here' link, you will see the prices. I'll save you the effort! Pack of six = $1.69 EACH piece; pack of 75 pieces + $1.43 EACH piece. Those are for the larger pieces. The pieces for FQ do not interest me, but those were a little less costly. In fact, with those prices, and the wasted space, and the wasted time ..... I'll pass. PAT in VA/USA Debra wrote: On Tue, 4 Sep 2007 19:12:46 -0400, "Boca Jan" wrote: oops http://www.thefabricorganizer.com/index.htm I couldn't find a cost on that page, but I know I can do the same thing with foam core board. Custom sizes can be had by anyone willing to measure and cut it. The big down-side is that either version of "bolt boards" would take up my limited precious stash space. By folding without bolt boards I can store more fabric in less space. Debra in VA See my quilts at http://community.webshots.com/user/debplayshere |

Actually, my stash is a little out of control right
now. I need to USE more fabric, not acquire more! I do need the chocolate without the fabric ... I really have to reorganize the sewing room and I need the chocolate for energy! Send the fabric to someone with a small stash. Grins, PAT Taria wrote: YOu gonna give us a link? YOu know the stock answer about fabric storage is you are supposed to send it to Pat and she will store it with her chocolate. LOL Taria Boca Jan wrote: Has anyone bought these and uses them? |
