OUCH!!!! happy, colorful thoughts winging your way this morning.
I'm off for a week -- babysitting my 4yr old DGD in VA. I haven't seen her for over a year but we talk a lot on the phone. You all remind me how fortunate I am and to slow down to make sure I know where I am putting my feet. Mim "Butterfly" wrote in message ... SKip if you wanna stay in a good mood. DH and I had Fam Dr Day, yesterday. At least this guy doesn't beat around the bush.....very tactful but calls a kettle black not 10 shades of gray. It may be a few more MONTHS before DH can have the reconstruction surgery....his incision has not completely healed yet...still is healing but very slowly. AND it will be at least 6 months AFTER he is off the Coumadin before they can do the knee replacement surgery--he needs it on BOTH knees. Now he has to go back to the Ortho Dr to have the knees 'drained' as often as necessary until the time of surgery........ I got the results of the MRI and the Cat scan. Knew I have two herniated discs in my neck (thus the Tylenol 4--no DRIVING--but I can handle that) still waiting on the 'cortisone shots' to be approved for that SIGH BUT I also have a lateral tear in the right shoulder rotar cuff.....which is a part of why I have been dropping things.......what is upsetting is the last Dr never went far enuf to get to the root of the problem--kept blaming it on ole Artie SIGH SIGH SIGH SO now I get to go to the Ortho Dr--but NOT the same one that did the Wing Impingement surgery 6 years ago. AND the BP is still HIGH so I have another NEW med to use--means staying close to the loo until I KNOW how the bod is gonna react....... DR even did the BP reading again after we were finished--and we just chit- chatted about 'cleaning your plate' when growing up ; ) BP didn't change--and I LIKE this Dr....... He said he would monitor this med very carefully-and the Pharmacist called him as soon as he read the prescription YAY!!!! GOOD PHARMACIST : ) BUT the GOOD NEWS---it may not be long term--he really thinks the 'pain factor' is keeping the BP up. Done griping-thanks for being there Butterfly (I love my HUG) |

Thank you.
Got to get to the Ortho Dr before I can answer any more questions. BUT I am looking forward to the Cortisone Shots as they DID help both my numb toes and my tennis elbow. I 'blow' on a mental toy pinwheel when the needle is being inserted--relaxes the muscles so the bite isn't as harsh and takes me OUT of the room at the same time (gotta be OUTSIDE when you blow pinwheels ; ) I know they hurt but I also know how much relief I have gotten from them---I'm just hoping that it will decrease the need of painkillers.......and that I won't have to have to do it again. Hugs Butterfly IMS wrote: Oh Butterfly, those cortisone shots can like the dickens. Have something (or someone) close buy to grab! I'm glad they've finally diagnosed the problem you're having as it means you can finally be on the road to getting it taken care of. What a relief to finally know. I can really relate to 'accidently' dropping things. I had elbow surgery to fix a tendon messed up from a bad fall which cracked my elbow. The tendon healed wrong after my arm was set, and I couldn't control my grip at all after the crack healed. Even fell off a ladder once because I 'accidently' let go. Fortunately the dr. figured out the tendon was messed up and operated but until that point I had lots of cortisone shots. Thank goodness they did help. I've also had surgery on both rotator cuffs within two years of each other. Many cortisone shots throughout all that, too. I agree 100% that pain will definitely push up that BP. While surgeries were very painful right afterwards, after each I noticed right away that the 'original' pain was gone. I hope this is what happens with yours. The only pain left was the pain of healing...and while it hurts, it's actually a lot easier type of hurt to deal with.....especially with all those pain meds they give ya afterwards :-) Will you need PT after your surgery? I'm on my way ; ) I'll even bring DH with me ......
Funny story--One of DD's friends went out and got us a rocking chair ( friend is about 5' 3"--fit them perfectly) and figured it might help if we 'rocked a lil' when overwhelmed...... Neither DH or I can get in/out of it very easily......so DD will take it with her when she moves out...but she said it was 'so cute' watching them try it out. We might have a 'yard saler' in the making vbg Hugs Butterfly Helen in WI wrote: Dear Sweet Butterfly and DH, Both of you come and sit on my lap while covered with an old soft quilt, I rock away your hurts. Thanks for the giggle : )
Yeah--when he said "We have to go to ___ and say *Help us Please*, I don't like the results, so we need further testing" ....I knew THEN that he would not just say, **come back in 2 months**, and keep checking his watch and head out the door ASAP so to speak, like our former did... Pain can definitely keep the blood pressure up. How and when did you tear
the rotar cuff? Gentle hugs from your Queen, for you AND for Joe. Karen, Queen of Squishies |

Karen:
Well, I am not sure about Madame Butterfly, but I do not know when/how I injured my shoulder. Guess it did not start to hurt until many hours, or days, or weeks (?) after the event. BTW: the Royal Physician here told me that eventually *everyone* has a few tears in that muscle, just part of life. Only some of them are of size or position to cause pain, and consequently limited range of motion. That little tidbit may just win you a prize in Trivia Pursuit someday! Close as we can figure--about 3 years ago--I had a LOT of shoulder
pain--and woke up with the swelling in the neck/shoulder base. Got into the Dr Assistant that day--they took 'regular xrays' and then blamed it on the Prednisone--had been on Pred a short time...called it Prednisone Fluid Build up--never mind that I kept DROPPING stuff..went to our RA Dr--he said the same thing--went to the "tennis elbow specialist" Dr--he said the same thing--I DID ask him if the shoulder/neck pain could be related to the elbow pain.... Went to FAm Dr this year--he sent me to the Pain Management Dr--who OREDEREDEREDDDD the Hi-Flautin x-ray.....and now I go to the Ortho Dr. Butterfly (and I'm STILL droppppppping stuff--*Clean Up Crew* LOVES it) Queen of Squishies wrote: Pain can definitely keep the blood pressure up.
