Default o/t late baby!

Hi ladies,
Apologies in advance if this turns into a moan, but this baby doesn't seem
in any hurry to be born. My due date was either yesterday (16th) or Monday,
depending if I go by the hospital date or my doctor's date. Baby seems
quite content to stay where he/she is, and kick into Mummy's ribs and
bladder a lot, no intentions of coming out, it seems.

I've tried all the old wives tales at least once - pineapple juice, hot
chilli food, sex (although perhaps they meant the biological one rather than
purchasing fabric), and sniffing various aromatherapy oils.

Go for a long walk.. *then* have a hot shower

if that fails

then all that is left is good old fashioned patience

I'm guessing you don't have any stepchildren you can send back to their
mother after their summer visit? That's what did it for me. I was 3 weeks
overdue, although I think the Dr. just miscalculated.

I took evening primrose oil for my second child. I was told (by the
midwife at my OB's office) to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the
evening. Apparently it makes the cervix more receptive to the hormones
that cause it to ripen. I was in labor within 48 hours of taking the
first dose. And yes sex (biological kind) is supposed to do the same
thing - apparently there are *cough* chemicals transfered that will help
with the cervical ripening....

Blackberry leaf tea. Brew it as strong as you can, and drink as much of it
as possible. Worked every time I had a friend or family member who was
ready, but the little one wasn't!

I saw the doctor on a Friday with kidlet #1. Was told I was not ready to
deliver and it would be at least another 2 weeks, maybe as long as 3.
That night, my now ex and I went out for Mongolian BBQ. Water broke 12
hours after the doctor's appointment! That kidlet turned 19 yesterday!!!!

Between the walk and the hormones of the
animals it could help. It has worked
for two women I know.

I sympathise, Morag. My third baby was ten days late! I became SO tired
of friends and family saying "Haven't you gone YET?" It'll happen for
sure, so do your best to be serene. (Yeah, right!) 8^) Nancycog in MD
