New twist on Puzzle quilt
I saw a cute puzzle quilt yesterday. The gal had followed the pattern
but made one of the center pieces black so it looked like a piece was missing. I thought it would look even cuter if you took a part of a colored block and appliqued it onto the border to look like it was the missing piece waiting to be placed. I really want to make this quilt, have the pattern in my someday file, but there are several quilts and other projects ahead of it. Someday this summer I will just declare it puzzle day and whip the thing together. If anyone tries the missing piece idea let me know how it works. Susan |

That sounds like a lovely idea. It would be a great quilt to give to someone
who loves jig saw puzzles. Diana -- Queen of FAQs Royal Peace Maker http://photos.yahoo.com/lunamom44 "Susan Laity Price" wrote in message ... I saw a cute puzzle quilt yesterday. Susan:
The pattern I bought a few days ago at the big quilt show includes several black 'empty' spaces, so perhaps that is where the quilter got the idea. I had planned to continue the edge 'jigsaw sections' into the border any how. Now I might also include some of those bits missing from the black areas, as you suggest. Thanks for good idea Susan! From reading the notes here about the puzzle quilts and then looking at my pattern, I am starting to think there are more than one of these commercial jigsaw puzzle type designs on the market. My pattern is called: Puzzling Pieces designed by Liz Schwartz & Stephen Seifert, ZDP Media Group. That is publisher of the magazine formerly called Foundation Piecer and now called Quilts With Style. This pattern does NOT include a coloring diagram. Nor does it diagram how best to cut the pieces from the FQ. It only contains instructions for the Queen Size quilt. I wish it had a chart with other sizes and the diagrams too! I think that is what the other pattern company includes. However, that pattern was NOT available at ANY vendor in the show, so I grabbed this one thinking it had all the same info. I can still make the adjustments, but the other way is quicker. Ah so! PAT in VA/USA Susan Laity Price wrote: I saw a cute puzzle quilt yesterday. They had a segment on this quilt (I believe) in one of the issues of the
Foundation Piecer. It was the cover quilt. How much instruction do you need. This one was paper pieced I think. Let me know. Helen in MN "Pat in Virginia" wrote in message ... Helen:
This one has options: foundation piecing or rotary cut with normal piecing. (I'll do the rotary cutting ... the other is a waste of time and trees.) I was just disappointed not to have a chart of the various sizes, fabric required, number of blocks, border sizes ..... the stuff one normally sees on these simple patterns. For the color design chart, I just need a line drawing. I can do that or work with the colored diagram in pattern. I think I will take the pattern to the copy store and ask someone to help me set the copier so it is real pale. Then I can color in my own preferences. Thanks for your offer Helen. If I run into any difficulty I may come back for help! Hugs. PAT in VA/USA PS: WHO published the pattern everyone else uses? Not only was it not at the MAQF, none of the vendors had heard of it!
