Default How many strand worsted to make bulky

My DSIL (who doesn't do crafty! ) wants to make the Martha Stewart No-Knit
scarf
which is on her website..and I was wondering how many strands of worsted to
use
to make up a bulky yarn to first try it out before buying the bulky yarn..
the scarf itself looks like macrame because it's just knots.

Two strands, though I think that actually makes Super Bulky or chunky
weight. Two of DK weight is closer to bulky weight.
