My sister made me a beautiful recycled mirror decorated with cut-up
drinks cans. I loved it, until I found out she had cut four or five
drinks cans into pieces using my best Fiskar's fabric scissors.

You can see the mirror at:

I don't have any photos of my sister stabbed through the heart with a
pair of ruined Fiskars quilting scissors.

Why-oh-why don't other people understand about scissors???

Pretty mirror though - nice idea.

OOh, a patchwork mirror! It's great -and your sister definitely owes
you a new pair of scissors. It's either that or formal expulsion from
your family. In fact, you ought to point out that TWO new pairs might
just fully restore her to visiting privileges in your home. On
probation, with plenty of supervision.

Fiskars are tough and aluminum cans aren't real hard to cut, but they
probably are a bit hard on the scissors. Fiskars makes a fairly
inexpensive little sharpener that works pretty well; try one of those on
your scissors. And it is not unreasonable to expect her to replace the
scissors. Bet she wouldn't forget then.

It's always a good idea to keep your sewing scissors well out of the way
of casual scissors users and to have at least one pair of cheap or old
scissors handy for anyone looking for a scissors for non-sewing
purposes. Non-sewers often are not aware of how precious our sewing
scissors are -- but still not as precious as those family relationships
should be. Please don't let this cause a rift between you and your sister.

Howdy!

Cute, the mirror & the story. G

So, now your sister owns a pair of used Fiskars,
and you'll get some new ones, right? ;-D

R/Sandy- noting that Fiskars aren't too expensive...
and you deserve a new pair

Beautiful mirror--but did she have to use the good sewing scissors?
Harrumph. I cut some cardboard with mine, not realizing that this would
damage them, and I'm still not talking to myself. ;-)

Thanks, but it would take a lot more than a stupid pair of scissors for
us to fall out. I love my sister to bits. She offered to buy me a new
pair, but I don't even want her money. I love the mirror, and it will
always make me grin when I see it and think of the story behind it.

I probably will tease her mercilessly about it though.
