Free Motion Quilting Problem
I'm trying to do some free motion quilting on my Brother ULT 2002D. I have
dropped my feed dogs, the embroidery foot is on the machine, I'm using a 90/14 Singer needle. I'm using the larger needle because I'm quilting through fused fabrics.. I'm using quilting thread on the top and regular sewing thread in the bobbin. The problem is when I'm moving in the same direction as the machine would sew with the feed dogs up, everything is OK, but when I reverse direction, I get skipped stitches. This happens know matter what speed I'm sewing. Anyone out there know what would cause this to happen? Thanks for the help. |

Most of the time it's caused by pulling on the fabric too much. Remember,
you control the length of the stitches on free motion.. Gen "Dawn" wrote in message ... I'm trying to do some free motion quilting on my Brother ULT 2002D. Are you sure the Singer brand needles are okay for your Brother?
I know they are not for Pfaff, as they are a wee bit too long. So I must use Pfaff or Schmetz or just about any but Singer. You're good! I didn't even catch the Singer part of the needle that was
being used. My Brother machine will only take Organ or Schmeitz needles. marcella In article s5QLe.359$5U2.90@lakeread07, Pat in Virginia wrote: Are you sure the Singer brand needles are okay for your Brother? First -- the Singer needles ARE NOT compatible with the Brother
machines. Use Schmetz, Organ or Klasse. I assume the tension on to ULT is similar to tension design on the 8200 which I have. These have tension rollers instead of tension disks. What this means is that you have to set the stitch length to the largest even though you are free motion quilting. It will make the thread feed more evenly. Somewhere I read that Singer puts out a bid for needles. Chooses the lowest
bid to put their label on. Sometimes the needles are good....sometimes not. Betty in WI "Joanna" wrote in message news:PpWLe.221489$on1.149630@clgrps13...
