I hope they say something about the knitted wall rugs! The book I have
says they were first made in the late 16th century in the area now known
as Germany (near Bavaria, I think), and they were the size of afghans
with multicolor flowers and figures and mottoes knitted in, like
woven tapestries but done in knitting.

Ok !!! here goes ,
The lecturer is a very good Historion, and he talked about a German
prince , OTT Heinrich , who went on a pilgrimage to Israel , recieved
the order of the holy grave. Returned to Europe and 20 years later
Commisioned 2 wonderffyl Tapetries that showed scenes from his travel
to the Holy Land. He compared the scenes in the tapestries to actual
maps drawn around the same time. Alas he wasn`t very knowledgeable,
about the actual weaving of Tapestries, which was a great pity. he
also showed 2 slides of 2 tapetries portaying the commisioner ruler
and his brother .
The Actual 2 Tapestries [ one of which is in the Munchin Museum, are
in fact WONDERFUL .
And i am now going to look up at more information about them.
The Cartographic side of his Lecture the MANY many Maps of `Holy land,
pilgrimages, stories from the Biblical times are numerous and very
interesting to see and read about.

Tamar as you see/read nothing was said about other Tapestries, but i
remembered that i have some info in another book ,,,wait i will festch
it ....
Richard Rutt , in his book A history of knitting , on page 90 has a
chapter [2pages] called KNITTED CARPETS.
The Illustraeted History of TEXTILES , mentions knitted carpets on
pages 149-150 .
