Default white thin ( poly with sheen ) bobbin thread

Hi All,
A friend just called, asking if I knew anything about a white bobbin thread
that she received a spool of ( with no name on it) as a gift . She said
that it was white, with a poly sheen to it adn was very thin. It came from a
small mom & pop store, in the vicinity of Mary Jo's Fabrics in North Carolina.
She loved it and would like to get some more, but doesn't have the brand name
or the store name.
Does anyone know about this thread or this store? I'd really appreciate it.

I use that stuff in the bobbin when I am machine appliquing.
Being thin it seems to gives less bulk than regular thread.
You can also get a lot of it on the bobbin too for less
changes there.

YLI makes a thin bobbin thread and has pre-wound. There are also Nebs
bobbins that are pre-wound. I buy them by the gross for machine embroidery.
Are the ones she got on a bobbin or sideless? Are the bobbins cardboard or
plastic?

I haven't bought the stuff in years but I found some interesting
links:

Looks like Sulky and YLI both make it in addition to some others.
Some is available only on pre wound bobbins and others on spools.
The nosy part of me asks what you gonna do with it?

Kris: I think I bought some of this type thread in MAQF. There is
a fantastic thread vendor who comes each year, located in the
Wearable Arts Building, IIRC. HTH.

I use this type of thread for various sewing/crafting projects - it is
made by manufacturers such as Unique, Sulky, YLI, Coats, etc. It can
be found listed in mail order catalogues under lingerie/bobbin thread
and is available in black or white, 1500m spools. I have also ordered a
6000m cone from Atlanta Thread & Supply (white or black( made by Coats
and sized as #15) - they labelled it as 4oz and call it "lubricated
poly". I have also seen it as a new product on the Kingsmen Quilt
Supply site where it is available in colours and a volume cone for lace
makings, embroidery, etc.

don't know about Kris's friend, but I use mine for machine embroidery,
applique, thread painting. It's much less bulky than regular thread.

Could be Bottom Line, which can be obtained in colors, too, and from some
sources in prewound bobbins.

I use the YLI that Libby Lehman recommended for her "Thread Play"
class, it does make a difference when you are putting a lot of thread
onto a piece of fabric,
