Default Gravity-Feed Iron - spitting out black specks

I am a bridal seamstress and generally work on white or off white
fabrics. My gravity-feed iron has started to randomly spit out specs
of black that have ruined a number of garments. I added a second
filter to the hose yet the problem persists. Has anyone had this
problem? Do brands and models make a difference in gravity-feed
irons? I would gladly replace my iron with another gravity-feed if I
knew that I wouldn't have that problem any more--but they all look the
same to me. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Have you talked to the iron's manufacturer? Wild guess is that you've
got some corrosion in the iron internally, which is probably a feed water
quality issue. Might it also be blue-greens or other "biofilm" in the hose
past the water filter?

Hello,
It sounds like you have corrosion in the steam chamber. I would recommend
running white vinegar thru the iron. It also may require disassembly. Is this
an expensive iron or one of the economy brands?
