Default Disaster quilts done!

A local businessman borrowed a church bus and is leaving today for the
Disaster Area. I sewed all night until 6 a.m. today to finish in time-
these quilts are HEAVY and it would have been very expensive to ship
them. I finished 24 quilts- until I ran out of batting- and then made
5 flannel baby blankets. I miscounted! My goal was 30 and I'm one
short. Oh well, no one should try something as difficult as counting
at a time like that, right? LOL

Here's a link to the results of my sewing marathon.

Another detail.... I used two new 400 yard spools of white thread on
top. Ran short of white thread and started using my bobbins on top
with thread from other white spools. Also, used black thread on three
quilts and one with navy thread. I'm estimating I used over 1200 yards
of thread in three days. My sewing machine is TIRED!

Can't believe what you have done Leslie. Just amazing and now I hope
you get some rest. Pat your maching for me.

The morning paper said that the Seattle area will be welcoming 2000
refugees to our area. Since they aren't going to be use to our cooler
weather, quilts, I think, will be welcome. Going to see what I have to
make some full or queen sized.

Well done, Leslie!
What a truly heroic effort. Good for you, and all those who are trying
to help.

No wonder your furbabies wanted you to get up and walk around every once in
a while, even before their treats; they were afraid they were going to lose
you in that pile of quilts! Absolutely outstanding work.

Wow Leslie great job. I think I can still see the smoke coming
from that hard working sewing machine. ; ) Looks like the furbabies
have done their part as QI's on the job too.

Our little sewing circle of 6, including myself and Musicmaker, are going to
do an 8-week marathon. DH has a business trip to Houston the first week of
November, and will take them all down there for us in his pick-up.
Yippee!!!

Karen, Queen of Squishies
glad to participate, and happy for Leslie's bus

Leslie, That is quite an achievement. I can't sew a thing. All my machines
are stowed away and who knows where in the garage my stash is. You should
rest well now, you deserve it. Linda
