Why in the world would this nutjob be posting this crap to a sewing group???
My quilt group has gotten five so far today from this idiot!!

FWIW, the original post never showed up on my server. I buy usenet
service from SuperNews, which has excellent filtering and retention
(approximately 4 years in text groups) for a very reasonable price. If
you're seeing a lot of spam in newsgroups, you might want to check them
out. http://www.supernews.com

Ob Sewing: This all started with a spam mentioning quilting...earlier
today I dragged out a 10 year old UFO and got it on the quilting frame.
The damn thing has been an albatross for years, and now that I have it
on the frame, I see that I shouldn't have been so intimidated by it.
It's much prettier than I remembered, and it's going to be easier to
quilt than I expected. :-)

Yesterday, I used the new frame to finish quilting some lining material
to use for a new parka, which I desperately need. I can hardly wait to
start on it!

Absolutely! I got so upset, I put down my quilting and put on my

riding crop and ball gag. Now if I just knew where to find this naughty

Good point! I notice that there's also a very active area on eBay for
such things as stilletto pumps in sizes 12, 13, etc.

I was having a giggle over the notion that quilters and stitchers are
all the same and that they are fair game for shocking.

Honestly, and I thought I mentioned it in my post ... I meant that that
seems to be the stereotype of the average quilter.

I'm 38, dress like I'm 19, drive like I'm 16, and listen to music that my
kids think is too "rough." And I'm a quilter. So I don't think I'm one to
think that all quilters are shawl-wearing, sensible shoes-shod, blue-haired
(though I did have blue hair about 5 years ago) little ol' grammas.

My point was that the idiot probably did and was probably gettin' his kicks
from the thought of shocking little old ladies - which, IMHO, makes him even
MORE pathetic and sad.

And FTR, I prefer "stacked" heels on my boots .... stilettos get stuck
between the frickin' wooden floorboards!!

Aha! You make my point for me!!! That simpleton must be a wee bit
disappointed by now. I'll bet we could show him a trick or two if we
would be willing to touch him with a 20' pole. However, his particular
fetish puts him off limits for most. Where's the Lysol?

Your Lysol?

Um ... I think he's *using* it ... if you know what I mean.
aside
I wouldn't ask for it back, if you know what I mean ....

That's what happens when you leave large cylindrical objects lying about.

Ahhh ... seriously though, I thought you were thinking that I was insulting
ya'll. Glad to know I misunderstood (cause you know, THAT never happens!!
LOL)!

Hugs!!

No, I figured I just wasn't sufficiently clear. I am 69 years old, can
drive competitively though I rarely do, not having a red light and siren
anymore, and do like the current music scene. Doesn't hurt to have one
kid who is a punk rocker, playing in several bands. Not that I like his
brand of punk which I believe is called "thrash" - but there's lots of
really good stuff out there. I don't quilt because it's too finicky for
me - I think of meself as a "big picture" person. ;-) But I do wear
Birks and have a couple of shawls that I wear, especially at night on
the ole computer. One I made when learning to use my knitting machine,
one a friend made for me. I don't wear it, but I've also got one that's
40 years old that will go through a wedding ring - beautiful thing it
is. I want a paisley, and if one ever crosses my path.....

There's little left in the world to shock me, I'm afraid. Disgust, yes.
Turn me off, yes. Make me angry even, if there's an unwilling
participant or abuser of authority. If I live long enough, I think I'll
become an assassin. Who would suspect an 90-year-old woman?

*pauses and rubs eyes*
*re-reads post*
*reads it again*

DAMN, you are frickin' COOL!!!

You ever want an accomplice, you see me. I'll SO be there. If I see yet
another news bit about some poor child who had the horrible misfortune of
being born into a family of vicious abusers, I will SNAP. Someone needs to
take those a**holes out NOW.

I'll bring the woodchipper and chainsaw!! Or we can just do it a la Dexter
(one of my favorite shows - isn't that awful?! LOL!) and dump the bodies
overboard in hefty bags. I'd say we could start our new career with our new
resident bozo, but I ain't touchin' him - not even with the thickest rubber
gloves.

*puts nice stereotypical quilter/mother of two mask back on!!*

Hugs!!

The thing that many *younger people* don't realize is that us little old
ladies sewing our quilts are the ones changed the world for them. We are
the original, hippies, rockers, bra burners, anti war, folk singing,
Woodstock people. As you said there's little out there that shocks us
anymore. There's plenty that just plain annoys the hell out of me, makes
me angry and I frequently would just like to pull someone's britches
down and give them a good old smack on the nether region, but that's
about it.

We did do that, didn't we? Seventeen Magazine was telling us that we
needed to meet Mr. Right and do the June Cleaver thing. Ha! What a
crock that was. But the youngsters had best be sure to exercise those
rights we fought to get, or they'll be taken away again.
