Default Copying Ready-to-Wear Clothing

Hello! I have a favorite 4-piece outfit that fits and wears like a dream
(pants, vest top, and jacket); however, it is winter wear. I would like to
copy this outfit for a spring/summer outfit. It has simple lines, but I
don't know how to begin.

I was certain that I have heard of this kind of thing being done before, but
I can't find any information.

Can anyone recommend a book that talks about copying ready-to-wear clothing?

Thank you.

I've used a technique called 'tracing' with good results. The only
problem is it's described in an out-of-print book, "101 Sewing Secrets"
by Singer. However the good news is this book often pops up on eBay
(which is where I got mine copy) right now there are 4 copies listed.

Also look for it at your local library. The instructions on how to copy
RTW are very good and the book contains many other good tips as well.
Many libraries let you look up and borrow books from other area
libraries, so it's worth a look. (The book by the way is part of the
"Singer sewing reference library" if you're having trouble looking it up.)

They also have a number of copies at www.abebooks.com with prices
starting at $2-something (USD)

Thank you so much to those of you who took the time to reply. I have found
several copies -- 2 on eBay and 1 on Abes' site. I'm buying two -- 1 for my
daughter and 1 for me. Thank you so much again!

I usually copy lots of things to make. Tracing is the best way, then
make your pattern out of paper and save for future outfits. Just lay
it out and trace it, allow extra room where things are gathered, etc.
and also allow for hems.
It's easy once you get the hang if it.
Good luck!
