Macintosh beading software
Could those of you who use beading software for the Macintosh share the
pros and cons of the various programs available for Mac OSX? Are there any that let you fill in beads in a direction as if you were sewing, not just in a straight grid? Thanks, CJ |

Are there any that let you fill in beads in a direction as if you were sewing, not just in a straight grid? Thanks, CJ I got Beadscape for Mac, from Beyond Beadery (http://www.beyondbeadery.com) . It's pretty cool beans. It lets you do loom or off-loom stitches, and it lets you set the offset by hand if you need to do that. It's a Classic program so you do need to be a little bit familiar with Classic if you are used to running OsX. This is the only real beading software for the Mac that I found, that is devoted only to beading and that comes preloaded with a variety of different beads, including Delicas. You might also take a look at MacStitch from Ursa Software, it is a cross stitching program that does have beads as a feature. It comes with the Mill Hill beads preloaded and seems like a good software if you want to incorporate beads into cross stitching, embroidery, sewing, etc. You can see it at http://www.ursasoftware.com . Lastly, if you use Virtual PC, there are more softwares available for PC, but I had no luck there as I have found that heavy graphic-intensive work in XP under VPC bogs my whole system down and is more trouble than it is worth (I have a 1.2GHz iBook). -- silar31 -- http://www.stranger-things.com to contact me please ping me on the newsgroup.
