Default Simple clown applique patttern

Hi all,

I know the easiest appliqué pattern is a clown from a colouring book but I
don't have any because my children are all grown up and there are no
grandchildren with two hands and two feet on the horizon - the only grandies
I will get are 4 legged ones that go neigh neigh and trot around a paddock
with my daughter on its back.

I have tried googling but to no avail for a simple one.

Could someone please help this befuddled apprentice quilter.

Thanks and regards,

My grandmother used to keep (tucked away from the grandchildren)
several coloring books she used for quilting design ideas, for
appplique, and for embroidery patterns for pillow cases. She also kept
sheets of tissue paper with the coloring books to use for tracing
paper. The next time you are at a store that has coloring books you
might want to pick up a few!

I was hoping to avoid doing that because I would become obsessive with the
cute pictures for my great nephews quilt - but I will buy some to give away
at Christmas time but make sure I have taken the patterns I would like to
keep.

Thanks for your reply.

Did you try Google Images?
I have just had a very quick look, and there are some fairly simple
ones.
To simplify any image, you can trace it and omit some of the detail.
Just leave enough to make the image recognisable. I have done it
several times.

http://www.crayola.com/free-coloring..._search=clowns

These clowns are just from the Crayola website, but if you type coloring
books in your search engine, it should give you many, many websites.

I did try googling but thought they were all to fuzzy when I enlarged them.
Never thought about cutting out the detail.
Thanks for suggesting that.

Thank you, I had completely forgotten about the Crayola website - too long
between looking for things to colour in.

You've already gotten some good suggestions but don't forget clip art.
The microsoft website has quite a few things I've used for quilts.
