Oxmoor House: what a rip!
....and I don't mean ripping fabric.
Yesterday's mail brought a flyer from Oxmoor House advertising The Big Book of Scrap Quilts. I leafed through it and recognized all the quilts that were pictured. Some have been published in the "Great American Quilts" series, some in books such as Quick & Easy Scrap Quilts, and of those many were published in a book called 100 Favorite Quilts (that's not quite the title, but close). I conclude that Oxmoor bought the quilts and the rights to the designs from the quilters and has just packaged and repackaged the patterns. With all the varieties of quilting, new techniques, and new fabrics, you'd think Oxmoor would keep on acquiring new quilts and new ideas. Nann noting that this book costs $8.99 in "four monthly installments" -- plus postage -- though it does come with a little cutting mat and a cheapo rotary cutter (oooh!) . . . oh, yes: "If you're not head-over-heels delighted, use Merchandise Return Label below to send the book back. We'll gladly pay return postage." So the return label is in the order flyer!! |
