Default Stole from Hell.

Hi all, well the stole is finally OFF the loom...what a dickens of a job I
had with it. It just would keep sliding around. I did a sett at 10ends per
inch and did a balanced tabby weave... Eventually having it as tight as I
could, I wondered whether I ought to have four ends each side for a selvage,
but not wanting to add more for this at 10inches done, I rolled and
flattened some newspapers, and slid this under the woven fabric and ontop of
the breast beam...that sorted it out...

Anyway... it is now having it's ends twisted for the fringe, and some teeny
teeny beads added to the fringe, every third twisted fringe bit. now has
four or more of these beads threaded on, and twisted into it. I may do a
triangle pyramid type of row of beads along each selvage.

The stole itself, has stayed at 30inches wide and is 100inches long, with a
fringe each end of four inches...was going to make them longer but decided
against it. Hoping to wash and roller rack dry it tonight...It should
shrink up a little bit.

I'll let you know...but I am sure glad it is off the Loom, I was beginning
to think it would never get finished. Then I saw the back sticks come up
into view...brilliant I thought...Looked at the tape measure and re-pinned
it, noting it was now 95inches, that last bit did very quickly.

Hope it washes up alright, it is lovely and soft, and very sheer and
lightweight. I will only lay it in the hot suds and then rinse it clear,
just to set the weave.

Thanks to everyone who helped me make up my mind about the length of it, the
sett etc.

Cheers.......Cher

Wish I could, I take the pics alright, but no room in this hard box to slip
in the driver card for it...more space needed...I'll see if I can't take out
one of the modems, this will give me a slot to shove the card into, I
believe I have two modems in it, so I'll have a look....trouble is, I'm lazy
and can't be bothered to pull it all out unplug it all, unscreww the case
and mess about...but one day I will.

Hi Els, I didn't put the beads on the warp, as I thought about the receiver
and her washing and pressing of it, so instead just have them along the
edges and down each third end that are twisted.

It is very sheer....almost feather light....I am taking it with me to London
on the 11th so I will see if my friend has a means of doing pics of this.

Cheers.....Cher

Cher,

Why not send the picture to Martin and save you from playing with the insides
of the computer, just a suggestion.

Hugs,

Hi Nora and Els, it certainly is, except that I only have a digital
camera, and not an ordinary one, and this needs to be able to plug into the
computor to get the pics out of it....lol.

You have prob forgotten but a few months back my pc broke down, the little
fan to the mother board broke down, well the one on the back of the tower,
is the one that drives the one on the mother board, and this is the one that
stopped, thus it stopped the fan to the mother board and it
overheated...wow... Anyway, I brought down this one from upstairs, but it
is ancient, and not only has it not got a slot to shove the camera card
into, it also is low on room to put in the program I use for the camera
which is Ulead Pro.. so I would have to take off a prog as well...I've
dropped down from Win 98 to 95 again to free up more space, but may have to
resort to going back to win 3.11 (can you imagine it - I'd be lost now) it
has two hard drives in here so I may be able to shove Ulead on the other
drive...I have to investigate it all...trouble is, I'm lazy, and just wanted
to get it plugged in and go...

I will have a look though, and maybe my friend in London can do this if I
take a fully charged camera with me.

The stole is only done in tabby or plain weave though, and the little beads
are sooooo teeny they only catch the light they aren't noticeable as beads
unless you really look for them. But they are clear plastic (I guess), but
catch the light and throw up a rainbow light when the stole moves.

Cheers.....Cher..
cheers.....Cher

Dear Cher

You certainly have computer problems however; here in Canada you can take
your digital camera to the photo processing store....E.G Kodak or Fuji and
they will take your card out of your digital camera and load it on a CD or
even process them the regular way. You then can mail it out to Martin.

Just a thought, I do know that you are a very busy lady.

I am sure your stole is lovely

Hi Els, yes Boots do this service, but you have to leave the camera with
them, and I'm not prepared to do this, being as it was quite an expensive
one, left to me in a will, used only once...

However your idea is most welcome, to others as well.

Cheers.....cher
