Default Round Robin

Many years ago, I was an avid reader of this group. I was involved with a
Round Robin that was formed within this group and it was a wonderful
experience. I had to let go of this group when I went back to get my master's
degree. I finished my degree in 2000, but then my husband has contratracted a
very rare heart/lung disease. So, we've been in/out of hospitals for the past
three years. He is now stabelized and so is my career. In the past couple of
months, I have dived back into my cross stitching with a vengence, my husband
bought me a new laptop for Christmas, and I've rediscovered this group. So in
finding this group, I got to thinking about the Round Robin I was in. I guess
what I would like to know, is if there is an individual that is involved with
this group who organizes the Round Robins? Could someone please let me know
who that is. If you want to reply to my email personally, please remove the
"no junk" from my address. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Rhea,

Firstly let me wish you a very happy new year 2004, in the hope that things
are going to settle down for you.

I am new to this Newsgroup and pardon my ignorance but I wondered if you
could let me know what is the Red Robin?

I have tried to reply to your message directly but it was returned to me
undelivered twice even though I took the nojunk off your address... :-(

A round robin is a project that is circulated amongst a group of people
who each contribute a part to that project. Using tatting for an example
(though it would work with most any craft), one person will start by
creating a center medallion, then send that medallion (and hopefully
instructions on how it was made) to the next person on the list. That
person will add a round or two of tatting to the center and forward it to
the next person, etc. until the project is complete. In the end, a
surprisingly nice piece will be created and hopefully a complete
instruction set so anyone can duplicate the entire thing.

Sadly, too many Round Robins end up being lost. But some groups manage.
Group exchanges are also fun.

I wish I could help, but I know of no current Round Robins, except the
ones on "Sewing World", but I don't think that's what the original
writer had in mind. grin

Sandrine,

Hum, a definition of a round robin is where a group get together and stitch on
each other's piece. Kinda like an old fashioned quilting bee, but over the
internet and thru the mail. Mine was a wonderful experience and I became
friends with 5 other women while we stitched. We did an aida only group with 6
women. Turn around time to mail your piece to the next person was 30 days. So
6 people, 30 days turnaround......I received my finished piece back six months
after we started.

I don't know if I explained this well enough so if others can explain it
better, please jump in. Sorry you couldn't respond personally to my email.
