As much as I hate to rip apart the magazines, I have to realize that I only
have so much room. With retirement looming on the horizon as well, I want
to start culling down the "stuff" I own. God, it's amazing how much "stuff"
you can accumulate by being in the same house for 13 years - a record for
me! So, right now, all the magazines are in piles on my guest room floor.
I'll start going through the odd ones that I only have one or two issues for
and start rippings as well. I do have all the binders and plastic sleeves
at the ready. At the very least, the older ones will get boxed up and put
into the basement.

Have a "ripping" good day!

Alice this is quite scary - I've decided to go through the magazines after
lunch as I'm running out of room on the "shelf" to put the books! Looks
like I'll be ripping and tearing this afternoon and picking up an A4 big
binder and plastic sleeves tomorrow

I'm knee deep in sorting magazines from my sewing room as well. I may

have
to find a new home for them in the basement until I can get the time to

go
through them to see what's a keeper. But moving them will give me room

to
store the fabric that is now stored in bins, boxes and bags on the

floor.
I'm feeling better already!

I've been scanning the projects I want to keep and will probably put
the actual mags on ebay when I'm done. Takes time, but takes ups a lot
less room. I have them goint back to the 80s.

Gadzooks, I thought I had a lot of mags. Now I don't feel so bad. But, I
must confess, I did find that I have duplicates of some magazines and even
in some cases, duplicates and (gulp) triplicates of quilting books! It's
true, I am out of control! .......and out of space, it seems.

Howdy!
I did that last year, went thru' 10+ yrs. of quilty magazines,
ripped out pictures and ideas I wanted to keep, pitched the
rest in the recycling bins. It was very "freeing" :
freed up space and time taken up from having to work around
the darn things. g
Yeah, I know I could have offered them for sale, trade, barter,
free, whatever, but there are plenty, plenty of these same
magazines in storage all over the world; I moved on to sorting
thru' other stashes.
I've kept a dozen or so binders filled w/ ideas in plastic pages
for years; at least twice a year I go thru' and purge some things,
add others. As a Casual Housekeeper, this is about
as close as I move to Get-O. VBG

It's amazing how many magazines I kept and now I don't know why!! I've got
a big, reasonable pile of "ripped patterns" and I tossed the been through
magazines in the recycling before I could change my mind. I couldn't
however, toss my humbly small collection of Miniature Quilt Magazines. I
just couldn't. So I didn't. I got the books I needed too on the shelf and
there's a bit of room to spare so that's that!

I did that last week. I have to do everything in spurts but I shampood the
rugs and vacuumed the cob webs off the walls and mopped the floors and
dusted and cleaned windows with alcohol and water and everything just
sparkles. Now I won't touch it again for a year LOL!!
