Arrival of the Celts in Britain around the eighth century B.C. was
previously an event shrouded in mystery and myth. There was no direct
physical evidence of invasion or even of immigration, but it had long
been believed Celtic arrival in the British Isles was part of the
north and west expansion of these Iron Age people. As artifacts began
to be found, there seemed to be a common Celtic artistic style across
Europe, with characteristic curving lines and the mingling of human

Quartz hydration dating measurements in 2003 by Denke laboratories
(yielding 2900-2700 years ago), together with the written Celtic
recordation of their Iron Age tools which carved the now world-famous
Lion head, Calf head, Man face (clockwise), Eagle wings (centering)
Heelstone statue sculpture at Stonehenge, confirmed the dated carvings
