Go to Dragonfly and get it, keeps the business going, and it doesn't go down in value, its worth every dime if you design with the 'puter. |

That is why so many small software firms go out of business. Support the
company that made it, it is not that much. That way you do not have to worry about having a legal copy and you can get all of the updates. "Animal Lover" wrote in message ... You might have difficulty buying a secondhand copy.
Most people if they like it enough to buy it just upgrade when a new version comes out so couldnt sell you the old copy as the passwords wouldnt work. Regards Elizabeth in UK http://www.stainedglass.co.uk |

The key word there is "most". Not all, most. This person is
obviously on a budget and isn't sure they can/wish to spend so much on an optional tool. Since I'm sure there is someone out there who found out they did NOT like it, I find their question perfectly reasonable. The seller gets rid of something cluttering their computer/shelf and the buyer gets a piece of software they wouldn't otherwise afford. To say that programmers will go out of business if we don't continually purchase their products only from them is to say that authors will starve if we buy used copies of books. The presence of the used market is impetus for the creative person to continue to innovate. I'm eventually going to buy a copy myself....though I'm really fighting with myself over the expense of the glass database....and yes, I will undoubtedly buy it new unless someone actually comes up to me and says "I hate this, please take it off my hands for a pittance"...but that's just because I WILL be able to afford it comfortably and I dont want to spend the time trying to find a don't wanter. I tried the demo version of this software via a on-line download.
Two things I remember about it: One, I didn't like the program, I thought it was ungainly and awkward to use, which is why I didn't go ahead and buy it. And this is why most folks who have it on their machine couldn't sell a copy, because it is downloaded and they only have a "unlock key" downloaded, too. (Rather than a CD and a printed manual) Two, the thing I disliked most about this program was that it writes itself all over your Windows registry. Once I determined that it was not of any interest to me, it took hours to get all the remnants of the program off my HD, using Ontrack's Uninstaller. While I was evaluating, I took the time to call Dragonfly and ask some questions. It took several attempts to even locate this bunch, it seemed that they weren't really "wanting" to be found, and once I got somebody on the phone, he was a real asshole about answering a few questions. What I saw of it made me think it was way, way overpriced and not of much value to me. I doubt I'd even bother to load it on my PC if someone were to snail mail me a freebie copy, bootleg or not. |
