Where to keep a roll of batting?

(in article ): I rather like the idea of putting it to bed in a guest room! My small guest room has enough quilts on the bed to smother any guest, since that is where I store quilts -- an entire stack of them all spread out! Because the cat likes to nap there, I then cover the entire bed with a spare sheet so the room looks "normal". The quilts stay clean and don't face issues with folding. If enough guests arrive so I need to use that room for somebody I roll all of the quilts into a giant roll and drag it into my bedroom and leave it on the far side of my bed and throw the spare sheet over it for the duration. Underneath all those quilts, the quilt-storage bed has clean sheets and a nice quilt ready for a guest. It's rather unorthodox, but works, and I would think a roll of batting tucked into bed would be just fine! The batting would stay clean, not turn into a nasty mess, not get damp, not deteriorate from extreme heat, and be fairly easy to get to when you need to cut a hunk off. A night cap at the top, slippers by the bed, and a book open on the night stand would make it interesting and homey, too. Love this picture. Wish I had the guts to try it, but David would think I'd gone batty. Maureen |

Polly:
Gee, I cannot find original post, but have suggestion. Cut about 6 - 10 pieces of batting in the size you use for the baby quilts. Store those in convenient place, then you can shift the big roll to a more remote corner. How about hanging it by slinging a rope through the tube and over ceiling hooks ... like a GIANT paper towel roll! Otherwise, the spare bathroom tub is good. What type batting did you buy?
