In the subject. Looks like I am talking about a Harry Potter character giving his all. NightMist that's what i thought, till i read all the posts!! VBG i guess squirrels are crafty enough. i have a couple, i think a male and female, that live in the wooded area on my empty lot next door. i try to get corn for them, or cheap shell peanuts (dollar store), and keep their food away from my bird feeder. i dunno, i guess i shouldnt feed them, but i think about all the babies and get a guilty feeling. my dad buys Planter's peanuts for his, but he doesnt feed the birds, either. go figure... amy in CNY |

I have netting over my berries, and a bunch of little mylar pinwheels on posts to discourage birds, I have flung around blood meal, bobcat piddle, and cayenne pepper to dicourage squirrels and woodchucks. I have chased after a possum with a knife (who knew those greasy smelly tree rats could boogie that fast!), and left offerings for the marten I spotted in the backyard last year. One of the reasons we are considering moving the heck out of town is it would be a lot cheaper to just shoot the buggers than to invest in all these deterents. I have always fancied having a squirrel jacket. NightMist -- Nothing has been the same since that house fell on my sister. |
