Default beaded embroidery on clothing

A preamble: I've been pretty low energy all week, being on antihistamines for a
wasp bite I got last weekend - I spent Sunday night in the waiting room of a
walk in clinic because my hand was swollen and I had a rash all the way up my
arm. (The doctor took pictures of my hand and arm to show to medical students -
my hand is going to be famous!) Four hours in the waiting room and I didn't
take anything to do with me, rats!

Well the wasps in my back yard are now history and I am beginning to recover
some energy. It was a really hot day, so I decided to finish sewing up a pair
of pants made from a couple of sarongs, dark blue with little fishies swimming
about, nice and cool for a hot day. I finished them up, put them on, and sat in
the canvas chair in the back yard. Ripped the back thigh out on a grommet.
Crikey!

So I was thinking of doing an applique of a sea horse over the rip. Do you
think beads would be too fragile, considering placement? I was just going to
fuse purple silk over the rip in the shape of the horse, do straight thread
embroidery, and put a few beads in for embellishment. Maybe a few little thread
tassels on the mane. Not really a piece that would launder well, but these are
definitely summer pants, which doesn't last long here.

Interesting concept.... I think it would be a bit too hard wearing
considering where they are ripped - IME, things like that don't last long
enough to be worth the effort...
