Default Sashing Advice AND EQ5 Advice

I've got the first 18 or so 6.5" blocks done and about the same number
of 4.5" blocks and now the question becomes: what color sashing. What
do you folks think? http://www.flickr.com/photos/onetexsun/3548753797/

Second question and this is for some of you who are such great EQ
users: I bought EQ5 and put it on my computer ... I think three
Christmases ago. I loved it, but quickly became aware that something
was wrong. I couldn't download the new monthly fabric palettes. Or
anything else. So when I put it on a different computer I was
expecting that to work. No. Same problem. Third computer (yes, I made
everybody in the house let me put EQ5 on their computers -- Bad Mom,
Bad Mom) -- same story.

Now I'm getting a brand new computer. Do you think there's anyway to
salvage my existing EQ5, or do I have to scrap it and buy a brand new
EQ6?

Sunny
TIA for all the good suggestions

Purple. Not timid vague purple. Real majestic Purple. I went a little
crazy with my sashing too. The first vertical measures about 3/4" finished,
the next one is about 1". I did the same unreliable random sort of sashing
on the horizontals. It kept the quilt top from having what looks like exact
squares. Hard to explain, very effective. Polly

Lime of course!!! As for your EQ question, have you emailed their
support staff for a solution? If there is a quick fix, I'm sure that
they are the ones to help you sort it out. barnyowl - jennellh

One of the wonderful aspects of scrappy quilts is that any color of
sashing works. G The sashing sort of defines "the color" of the
quilt when nothing else does. Since you have used the same green in
all the blocks, to help tie them together, you could even go with
scrappy sashing. G And I love Polly's idea of varying the sashing
widths.

Your EQ5 should still be okay. To save what you already have done you
will have to do some sort of a file transfer.... and I don't know how
to do that. As for adding the monthly palettes, sometimes I can,
sometimes I can't and I don't do it often enough to remember the key
to doing it. sigh. If you do want to upgrade you might want to wait
and see what happens in the next few months. G Check out the EQ
forum (through Planet Patchwork) where you can get great answers for
questions straight from the program writers/designers. (I haven't been
keeping up on it lately, but good discussions and quick answers. Check
the archives because there have been several threads on loading the
monthly libraries and linking them to the program. )

Have fun,

Purple! Or maybe a deep red violet. Can't tell from here. But if the
blocks seem warm to you, go with purple. and if they seem cool, then
red violet. That's my gut feeling.

I second Patti's idea. Navy would be wonderful...or if you are very
brave, a very dark purple. :-)
