Default Grayson Perry

Well apparently a potter named Grayson Perry has won an award
in the UK, the Turner award. I found his website (graysonperry.co.uk)
and viewed his work. A news story mentioning the award
had quoted someone saying his work was "deeply disturbing".
All I can say is, if any critic thinks what is on display at
his website is odd (maybe I haven't seen the worst?) then he or she
should open his eyes a bit further. There's an entire genre of art,
not just pottery, which specifically aims at being revolting.
I noticed in one small town an entire gallery of the stuff.
Perry's work was, frankly, tame by comparison to the
junk I've seen elsewhere. I wish I had some photos to share.
Or another example, there's a museum in London that features
preserved human cadavers, many of the skinned, on display in
various bizarre poses. I wonder if there's isn't some connection
perhaps, between the "geek is cool" trend of the late 1990's
and the popularity of revolting art. Who can say.

A friend emailed him and got a reply.
Here is his website
http://www.graysonperry.co.uk/
He accepted the award in a child like "alice in wonderland" dress )
I like some of his work, but find all of it interesting.
