From: "Gillian Murray"
Well, all. I have just returned from my local Ranch/feed store with their last jug of Orvus. ....... The owner said some people even wash their hair in it, so we may try it on the dogs. ..... I have used it on my hair and my friend uses it on her Weimaraner who has very delicate, sensitive doggy skin and is allergic to all sorts of things. Works great! And as someone else said -- use just a wee little dab on any fur babies as it really soaps up!!!!! You can always add more but it's a bear trying to get too much of it out! CiaoMeow ^;;^ .. Sorry, Lucille, but I HATE FLORIDA!!! Wow, that felt good!!
Well, Gillian, I was born and brought up on the northeast coast of England. Moved to the U.S. as a newlywed with my Brit DH who had "itchy feet". Lived in Montreal, then various parts of north central Ohio, then DH was transferred to Tampa. I DIDN'T LIKE IT EITHER. We were there for 10 years, Aug 83 until Mar 94, while our kids went through the teen years. Never did get used to shopping for a Christmas tree in shorts and sandals!!! The company went under, and DH was out in the cold for all of a day, then another co. here called to recruit him. Summers here are just as hot and sticky, in fact I think they are even worse, but at least we get some cool weather in what passes for winter. Very rarely actually freezes, but at least it is cold enough sometimes to wear tweeds and sweaters. Olwyn Mary in New Orleans. |

Now, now, before you trash Louisiana -- realize that South Louisiana is not
necessarily representative of all of Louisiana....we're way more civilized up here in the northwest corner of the state....and the weather is not "quite" as humid. -- Jere "Tia Mary-remove nekoluvr to reply " wrote in message ... From: "Lucille" ..... I'm probably one of the few people on earth that looks forward to a cold, rainy day. You're not alone -- I LOVE colr, rainy, cloudy days! After THIRTY-FIVE endlessly and unrelentingly sunny years in Lizard Land, I absolutely crow with delight when the temps stay below 80 here in Magnoliaville! I honestly don't know *how* anyone can survive in Florida! I would willingly and happily move back to Lizard Land and live in that hot, horrid, nasty DRY city before I would even consider living anywhere in Florida -- or Louisianna or Texas for that matter! I am actually quite surprised that the humidity isn't worse here in Magnoliaville. I think it's because we are so far north and way out of the city proper. Now, if Mother Nature would just cooperate and bring us some rain I would be ever so happy -- LOL! Folks around here still think I am crazy but I LOVE the rain. Of course, once they find out where I moved from they start to understand -- LOLOL! CiaoMeow ^;;^ . Oh good ... I'm glad to see someone else has trouble with gardening ...
plants see me coming and they drop dead cuz they know I'll eventually kill them with my 'black' thumb. Oh well, can't be good at everything, can we? Now just exactly what am I good at ..... well, hrumph, let me see now ... there's got to be something ... sure, it's ... a ... oh well it'll come to me later I'm sure. My beautiful Rose for HM's Aniversery looked gorgeous, and was supposedly on Florida stock. The flowers were lovely, and beautiful, the buds were petty. Oh Gillian - I'll beat you with a wet noodle if you don't stop rubbing in all those great temperatures. We might've reached 15C today - grey, cloudy, sprinkling - our poor perennials don't know whether to pop up or drop dead ... Sharon (N.B.) .................................................. ........................... .... "Gillian Murray" wrote in message hlink.net... Well, all. I have just returned from my local Ranch/feed store with their last jug of Orvus. It is just under $20 for 120 ounces, so it will work out a lot more economical to use than the stuff in a blue jar at the stitchy stores. The owner said some people even wash their hair in it, so we may try it on the dogs. Interestingly enough, on the container it DOES mention it's use in handwashing delicate fabrics, so I guess the secret is out! Gillian sweltering in 100deg (shade) temps in Florida. |

Louisianna or Texas for that matter! Parts of Texas are almost as hot and dry as Lizard Land (miles and miles of hot,dry nothing LOL) San antonio is considered a semi-arid areaa ( inches above normal this year though). WE often get droughts (usually followed by a torrential downpour LOL We have had 2 hundred year flood within 5 years lolol sure you don't want to come on down??? heheh kathy san antonio |

"clancy" had some very interesting things to
say about Orvus.: Oh good ... I'm glad to see someone else has trouble with gardening ... plants see me coming and they drop dead cuz they know I'll eventually kill them with my 'black' thumb. Oh well, can't be good at everything, can we? I'm a black-thumb myself. :-) My pets are healthy and happy, plants have zero life expectancy with me. At least pets will TELL me when they need something, plants just sit there and suffer at me and blend into the scenery. -- "Don't mess with major appliances unless you know what you are doing (or unless your life insurance policy is up-to-date)." - John, RCFL |

It's a lovely 76F/24C here in East Tennessee with low humidity and moderate
winds from the SSW. Of course before the rain and tornado watches it was about 86F/30C with about 30 % humidity (or that's what it felt like any way) Angela "Gillian Murray" wrote in message hlink.net... Well, all. Well, that's the thing with extreme climates ... you can't grow what you used to back home, or at least, not easily. If I want my beloved lily of the valley, I have to dig them up every fall, stick them in the fridge to simulate winter, and replant them in spring. Ditto any other "spring bulb" flower. OTOH, all those tropical things you-all drool over on those Australian travelogues do quite nicely in the California desert. My bougainvillea won't survive a northern winter, but they thrive here. I have all sorts of things in my yard that would be annuals elsewhere and here they're full-size shrubs. Two blocks over, a gal has a couple ten-foot gardenia TREES. Dilute it -- about 1/4 cup in a quart of water works for me. It cut my dog washing time in half because it rinses out so much faster than regular dog shampoo. Peaches |
